This week's column is about the crux (or as I used to think it was called, the crotch!) of psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis: making the unconscious conscious. It's been life-changing for me and my patients. Thank you, Freud! theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…

My new column is out. I've had a touching email from a reader who connected with it, which is the best part of this gig. Please do get in touch if it speaks to you, and if you feel inclined... theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/a…

‘If Only I Was a Boy’ received enough citations to be a #TopCitedArticle in its journal. Thanks to @wileyinresearch and the British Journal of Psychotherapy, who, before @Hilary_Cass report, dared to publish when other journals were reluctant.

My paper was recognized as one of the top downloads last year! Despite the fact that this thinking is clearly in demand, I've had difficulties getting this work published in some PA journals. Thx @wileyinresearch Clinicians must be free to debate & think. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

There’s no ‘one size fits all’ model for understanding GD & while a psychoanalytic approach is not always appropriate, the model can provide insights into unconscious motives. Therapist need to see the individual behind the presenting issue. @genspect onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/bj…

Misogyny in Psychoanalysis, Michaela Chamberlain
🙏to Annie Pesskin for her review for journal of psychoanalytic psychotherapy: Chamberlain’s book is small but mighty..she packs such a fascinating and diverse range of subjects, all circle around the key question, ‘How does misogyny hide in plain sight in psychoanalysis?’
