I'm not sure if this is true. Purely for statistical reasons people with advanced degrees are overrepresented, but compared to an equally "literate" segment of the population autodidacts are surely more numerous.

There have probably been few myths as damaging spread on twitter as the myth of the autodidact. In truth most popular anons come to some degree from the academic world, and only an equivalent institution can replace it. Rigor is the hardest thing to teach.

But imagine e.g. farming was unprofitable for individual farmers in America -- we would want some way to ensure that America still grew food!

Population genetics just dropped an atom bomb on blank slate science denial in the pages of Nature. We were told for decades that evolution could not have meaningfully operated on the human brain in the "short period" of time since humans left Africa for Europe and Asia around 50,000 years ago. In fact, it's been accelerating over the past 10,000 years, and the proof is in our DNA, and the DNA of our ancient ancestors. Bigger data sets and improved scientific techniques are exposing the ideologically-motivated lie that's been ruthlessly enforced in academia since the 60s: Population groups are biologically all the same under the skin. Reich himself warned liberals back in 2017 that they needed to prepare for some bad news, and that if they didn't they were going to end up on the wrong side of the scientific revolution occurring in genetics. But rather than accepting his argument, Reich was attacked. Now the bad news is arriving.

This ignores all other taxes. The top 1% has 20.1% of income and pays 23.9% of all taxes. Our overall tax system is only slightly more progressive than a flat tax.

The federal income tax is so progressive that even people making $100K-$200K have a smaller share of the income tax burden than their share of income. The ~100 million tax filers who make under $75K pay just 8% of all income taxes. The 30,382 filers who made over $10M paid 11%.

@hollowearthterf The *most* aggressive low-IQ boys weren't disturbances ime: they were violent outside of school but were safe in class and didn't care about bad grades. But you're right that the kids who were disruptive 1) weren't smart, 2) received plenty of patience, and 3) were usually boys.

Lower income/lower IQ boys are actually just a massive problem in class, highly disruptive, often aggressive towards other kids, can completely ruin the environment, and historically weren’t educated for a reason. It’s not the teacher’s fault, they just need to be removed

i think the reason bright, energetic young men butt heads with schoolteachers, overwhelmingly women, is teachers simply have no theory of mind for male students, or arent willing to find the patience necessary to teach boys, whose learning styles are significantly higher variance
