There is something mentally off about this union, and it gets more unsettling the deeper you go. It gives the impression that the opposition to traditional relationships was never really about the structure, it was more like traditional anti-family, or perhaps a population control tool. Walk with me. The entire complaint about traditional relationships was always the structure: dominance, submission, prescribed roles. But the moment you remove a man or a woman from the equation, society has no issue with that same structure being recreated inside a same-sex relationship. It becomes acceptable, as long as it is guaranteed not to produce children. And here is where it gets truly unsettling. If you are not attracted to men, or not attracted to women, why would one person still has to act like a man or like a woman for the relationship to function, and this goes all the way down to intimacy. How can you say you are not attracted to men, then spend your entire married life pretending to be one or live with someone who pretends to be one?
