@sidlowe @WorldSoccerMag looks great, just bought two. Hopefully they arrive before kick off!

This stuff is so undignified.
England has produced elite centre backs for years: Ferdinand, Terry, Campbell, Adams.
Harry Maguire is 33 and was never near any of those players.

This might possibly be the worst decision I’ve ever seen in my life. No words 😳😳

@dublin_damo slot shouldn't allow him in the ground for what he posted

@kendkpowell @maxnotdavid If you publish your opinions on beloved literature online, you should have the courage to a) accept that people may debate them and b) give reasons
English

@DaraghThomas @maxnotdavid The fact you have no clue about the latter perhaps means you should avoid making a judgement about the former?

The Guardian has released its list of the 100 best novels, based on the Top 10 picks of 170 writers, critics and academics. Reading is deeply subjective, but lists and reviews can help us discover books worth reading.

@kendkpowell @maxnotdavid it's so structurally exciting and well written it spawned its own plot structure that you see everywhere now!
English

@DaraghThomas @maxnotdavid Not forbidden but dull, lacking realism and full of racist undertones. Other opinions are available.

@maxnotdavid @kendkpowell I'm guessing Lolita's subject matter means Ken thinks it should be cancelled. No idea about moby dick
English

@kendkpowell why is moby dick at 15 laughable? or lolita at 25 unsettling?
English

@realPaulConroy @DrWilliamBehan Why would you think anyone would want to push Ireland into self-hatred? What a genuinely odd take!

Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz cannot stand. But there's no going back to the status quo ante in the Gulf. The U.S. and its allies urgently need a plan for the post-war governance of the Strait of Hormuz. Here's a proposal by me, @RichardHaass, and Philip Zelikow.

@dilanesper Fabulous analysis, thanks for sharing. The only thing I would push back a little on is calling Bibi dim; he's a survivor. I would say perhaps he's optimised short-term survival over long-term strategy. Also, not sure if the donors will break anytime soon.

@antoniogm your job was to give constructive feedback, so really you were wrong

@blakechains @shayne_coplan @Polymarket Congrats! What made you think he could succeed where projects like Augur had failed?
English

The little known story of @shayne_coplan and @Polymarket
In 2019, Shayne was building “Union,” a cosmos-chain staking platform that we backed at BlockTower.
Struggling to find PMF, he came to the BlockTower office in NY and pitched our team “Polymarket.” A full pivot from his current platform while almost entirely out of money. Ambitious to say the least, especially to build out an entirely new concept that hadn’t been scaled before: an onchain prediction market.
Nearly out of money, he asked for a small bridge round. $250k in total. Many founders would have quit or closed shop but Shayne wanted to win and do so with his original investors and his original company.
6 months later during covid, he came back with a fully built platform looking for another bridge round. $500k in total. There he told me that Polymarket was going to make him a billionaire and I fully believed him.
A few months later he closed a seed round from Polychain and the rest is history.
