@BadCallOfficial Simply wrong based on the rule it’s not just the defender deflecting the ball he has to in the direction of the backcourt he deflects it down and it hits the offenses leg the rule also states that it’s only not a backcourt violation if the offense doesn’t touch it before

This was called a backcourt violation on St. John’s. The ball was deflected by the Kansas defender. Once it is deflected, it does not matter who touches the ball last before it goes in the backcourt. That’s a bad call. Explanation straight from the NCAA below.

@AyersRefTracker In NCAA basketball, a backcourt violation occurs if a team has player/team control in the frontcourt and that team is the last to touch the ball before it enters the backcourt, and then is also the first to touch in the backcourt. “Touch” not possess.
