@BOSSportsGordo @jcmccaffrey They were talking to him about moving before he even signed his deal. He knows it's coming and has for a while. You can move him to 1b and deal Casas or move him to DH and deal with the Yoshida issue when it arises. And you can actually keep O'Neil or replace with with Hernandez.

Can think of five reasons off the top of my head why the Sox can’t move Devers off 3B: 1. Devers takes a lot of pride in 3B. Moving him full time would almost certainly piss off your franchise player. 2. @jcmccaffrey mentioned a good point in her first mailbag that Cora has said in the past that Devers’ bat is at its best when he’s in a good headspace. 3. Moving Raffy to DH almost definitely means TON leaves (and you can’t replace him with Teo) and you get a 3B who will certainly be worse offensively than TON was last year, so you’re downgrading your offense. 4. If you move him off, you’re not moving him back. Committing to a DH for the next 9 years severely limits your flexibility both in-season with moving guys around the field, but also in the offseason when building out a lineup. 5. Last year, Sox SS, 2B, and C were all worse defensively relative to the league than 3B was. Improve those spots and we can stop making Devers take the entire blame for an infield that was bad across the board.

Bc he said that of GB-only player ever to win batting titles in 3 separate decades. More hits, more doubles, more triples, almost 3x as many HRs. And WB played in a phone booth.

These guys won the batting title every year when I was a teenager. Other old dudes will confirm.

@Super70sSports I’m not sure any hitter ever had the patience and eye for the strike zone that Gwynn did. A minuscule 432 strikeouts in over 9200 at bats 😳…to go along with a .338 lifetime average.
