@UziCryptoo Even worse if you're self employed like I am. I pay twice as much as that into it.

The max one can pay into social security per year is $10,453.20. If you did that every year from age 18 until retirement, the max you’ll get from SS is $4,873 /month. If you put it into an S&P index fund instead, you would receive $32,583 per month. Social Security is a scam.

@AndreaSJames The question I am hearing from clients and friends is not if they should stay in Washington. The question is do I accept higher taxes, and move to California or do I move to a no tax state.

You'd be surprised how many Seattleites would prefer California, but Washington's tax favorability has allowed it to better compete with its sunnier and more fashionable West Coast cousin. Techies had an economic incentive to learn to love the evergreens and clouds. Hence, as taxation continues to ramp here, the immediate winners won't necessarily be humid, income-tax-free states, like Texas and Florida, but rather, places like California. Washington has little parity with California, which has the best weather in the country. I guess up here, the air remains cleaner, so we got that. In the past two years, we have undergone a major erosion of incentives to stay, to found businesses here, to plant families. So much of the region is transient -- huge influx of people and talent from other places. It will change. Incentives work. Disincentives also work.

I started a company from scratch 20 years ago because I was born and raised here. Now we have 8 employees who all make 6 figures. Despite others warning me, I stayed put and have my office in downtown Seattle still despite the lower taxes we would get from moving to a different state or going to Bellevue. This year I sold some of my company to someone else in the business to reward them for a job well done. Because of all of this I get "rewarded" with a 7% capital gains tax on the sale. This stupid income tax for doing well. An heaven forbid I die here and pay this insane estate tax. I'm looking at real estate in other states. It just makes zero sense to stay in a state/city that clearly want to take advantage of you. I'm angry that you leave me no alternative but to leave the city I love.

The Millionaires’ Tax passed by the House represents historic progress in rebalancing our unfair system. It sends significant dollars back to Washington families and small businesses. It expands the Working Families Tax Credit to 460,000 additional households – that’s money straight back into the pockets of working families. It saves working parents money and ensures our kids are prepared to learn by funding free breakfast and lunch for all Washington K-12 students, which has been a priority of mine since I ran for governor. The Millionaires’ Tax will apply to less than one half of one percent of Washingtonians, but make life more affordable for millions. I look forward to signing it.

@AllbrightNFL How would that prove that elections are bought? Liberal tweets are very much a thing. I don’t see many tweets about you criticizing Biden administration. I don’t even care but don’t pretend to be bipartisan

There aren’t any “liberal tweets” that is not a thing. You get a lot of tweets, criticizing the administration because they are so blatantly corrupt and inept. The claim wasn’t the current administration was bought. The claim was that billionaires bought elections once Citizens United passed as evidence by the graph.

@AllbrightNFL @grok @ianbremmer Considering all of your liberal tweets when you retweet something like this it’s implied that Republicans bought the election. Especially when the claim is elections are bought with a current Republican president. So it seems relevant that Democrats actually spend more.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE MY EYES." 😳 Dual moguls madness as Nick Page skis out of the course for a DNF while his opponent, Ikuma Horishima, barely stays in control and skis over the line BACKWARDS for the win.

@Redhook_Brewery Remember 2014 when you sponsored the #Tickless12s to go to the Seahwaks Super Bowl and Phoenix? Want to run that back another time? I got the RV booked again!

@jtrader @grok Pretty common mistake. Retiring investors try to buy high dividend/yielding stocks/bonds but really you should look to optomize growth. Especially if you have other assets, the tax on those will drag you down significantly.

hey @grok Design a diversified portfolio of stocks and ETFs that pay dividends every month, with suggested allocation percentages, expected yield, and a focus on long-term performance and income stability.

@KurtSupeCPA You don't get step up in basis if it's in the trust. Also, it's an unnecessary step. We set up Investment Credit Lines all the time. However, with rates high and a volatile stock I would probably sell, pay the tax and not take the risk

Dad is a long-time Lilly employee. Has $10M in LLY stock. Basis is $500K. Kid needs $500K for a house. If he sells and gifts it, he owes tax on $475K gain. That's $95K to the IRS + state tax. Instead, he puts it in a trust. Borrows $500K against it. Gives it to his kid. Borrowing is not income. So no tax. Uses lifetime exemption to avoid gift tax. He lives on loans too. Never sells. He dies holding the asset. Kid inherits at stepped-up basis. IRS gets $0.

@AlaskaAir after boarding out flight and ready to leave we had to disembark and our flight for bumped back 3 hours. We miss the Seahawks game and my son doesn't get his Christmas gift. $3k of Seahawks tickets, $550 hotel and $100 car rental all wasted. The response from your reservation team, "sorry we aren't responsibke for that". Disappointing considering we had multiple MVP 75k on our reservation!

@GovBobFerguson Hey @grok what percentage of the states total revenue comes from the top 1% of income earners? Also, how much of the population in Washington is employed by the top 1%?

Washington families with income in the bottom 20% pay a whopping 13.8% of their total income in taxes. Those with income in the top 1% pay only 4.1% of their income. That’s untenable. Let's pass a Millionaires’ Tax in 2026.

@DarrenTrautmann @RyanDivish Absolutely more true that Cano and Cruz took more jobs than Springer. They were cheating for years and the trickle down effect it had on jobs lost to other players was immense.

John Schneider was not pleased with the fans that cheered when Springer got hit in the knee. “On that note, I know this is an awesome atmosphere to play in, and it's really, really cool to play here, and I think the fans that were booing him should take a look in the mirror and understand what kind of player he is.”

@bagwellfan5 @sportsonly66 @RyanDivish The Red Sox should be punished also. And the PED users we're across all of baseball. Not giving one team a specific advantage by cheating. Only clown here is defending cheaters.

@sportsonly66 @RyanDivish Not close to true. People didn't lose their job because a team won 89 games. Also, Cano and Cruz got punished and we're suspended which Springer wasn't.
