@AsteroidEnergy Reports are that SF seized a farm 18k from the WSO’s hide. They then flew helicopters to retrieve him. The C-130’s flew into the farm to extract everyone, but became stuck. Ground forces should have had plenty of time to assess the LZ long before hand. It just doesn’t make sense.

I don’t know. But the claim that the departing US forces blew up their HC-130s sounds off. Also, there must be a good reason (other than availability) why Ospreys weren’t used for the extraction. They’re literally built to avoid what’s being claimed.

Something about this F15 crew rescue doesn't add up. Why would one need C130s (carry 60-70 troops) for rescuing one or two aircrew and maybe a few troops whose helicopter got shot down during the rescue. It looks more like spl forces were in a temporary base with C130s etc. 1/3

What was the operational problem that a forward base inside Iran was solving? Inability to do enough reconnaissance flights to find the WSO? I’m having trouble understanding why flights from bases outside Iran were inadequate.

@JoshuaTuxb71684 @OOZukerkandl @TomRtweets None taken. I love PJs and think it’s one of the most underrated communities out there. One of my instructors was an STS guy, he was awesome. They definitely do things a little differently medically. Unique skill set, was a master with ropes.

@DasYudden @OOZukerkandl @TomRtweets I agree with the scope you are saying. SOCM training from a medical standpoint is a tad more comprehensive. My take was that PJs are inherently trained for a different core mission and their pipeline reflects that. No disrespect to either community.

SOCM/SFMS combines for 14 months of training to include anesthesia, regional blocks, and battle field surgery. All beyond the medical scope of PJs. Obviously PJ pipeline entails skills outside medicine.
