Thank you everyone who has sent kind words. The main aim of this post was to help make people aware of a clear organised outfit operating in the areas I’ve outlined - an area we thought would be safe enough to walk just a few hundreds yards down. Won’t be making the same mistake again - it’ll be the Apple Watches in future.

After a wonderful afternoon and evening on the British Pullman with our dear friends we headed to Canal Street for a few last drinks. On our short walk back to the Dakota Hotel on Ducie Street four lads of possible Middle Eastern original attacked us both to steal Wes’s Rolex watch. It happened so fast and they ran off once they got it off him. Wes is badly bruised and cut but we’re thankful it wasn’t more serious. We’ve always felt safe when visiting Mcr but these guys were lying in wait for people at the top of Canal Street and were hassling people ahead of us earlier on. We’re obviously devastated and shell shocked but my Wes will be ok. Highlighting here because people need to be aware of this…

We are shocked and desperately saddened to learn that the famous Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall has been felled overnight, in what appears to be an act of vandalism. We know just how much this iconic tree is loved locally, nationally and by everyone who has visited. We are working with our partners to understand what has happened and what can be done. The incident has also been reported to the police.

Proud of my youngest climbed numerous fells today including Helvellyn even climbing an extra one due to his Dad insisting that the map was probably out of date and he knew better. Turning a five hour hike into a ten hour all day event.
