@pitchergami Mikes Mikolas would be up there I’d think. Lots of varying mediocre starts.

@cmccosky Like the game he had against the Tigers last year. I liked that one more. 😀

Ugly start for Framber Valdez and Tigers. Twins score six runs, four hits, walk, HBP. Valdez at 29 pitches. He couldn't command his curveball. Enmanuel De Jesus was warming in the first.

@deeptocenter No, we are on Twitter (X) so we are required to panic and blow things out of proportion. 😵‍💫 Thanks to you for your post. 😀

The Tigers are 4-7, not 4-17. It surely doesn’t look great so far, but it’s a long season and the time to panic isn’t quite here yet. These wins and losses DO matter, but they can still make up for them by getting hot and ripping off some wins.

@spencernusbaum_ On DirecTV satellite it’s fine. FYI last year I could also stream on the MASN app-this year I can also stream on the DirecTV app.

@UmpScorecards Questions: Is the strike zone from the umpire’s perspective or the pitcher’s? If it’s the pitcher’s, does that mean all of the pitches missing on the left are inside to a lefty and outside for a righty (or vice versa if from the ump’s perspective)?

@MSmithDetroit On the other hand, the Tigers have a ton of guys with huge platoon splits. They need players who are ok to leave in the game after a pitching change. They can’t pinch hit for everybody.

Random 40-man player note #38: Matt Vierling Vierling has relatively small platoon splits over his career (just 35 points of OPS). This would be great if he was good enough to be a starter - small splits would mean he could face both RHP and LHP. But as a bench/platoon player? Small platoon splits are a hindrance there. It makes him a harder fit compared to someone like Jahmai Jones, who can absolutely mash vs LHP and can be paired with someone like Kerry Carpenter vs RHP. Vierling can't be platooned with anyone as a way to maximize his value.

@Dchinni Very airport-specific. DCA Terminal 1 on a Wednesday and TPA Airside C on a Thursday were good for Pre-Check (although the regular lines at TPA were a bit long). Here is a link from CNN with wait times. IAH has been particularly bad-150 min yesterday. cnn.com/us/airport-tsa…

Have to say, for all the talk and images of crazy airport security lines, all the members of my family have traveled in the last few weeks and hit NO snags. I wonder how localized or time dependent the problems are.

@BradKrysko Also, it's not just about ending the drought. The East has a lot of strong teams but only two that are significantly better than Detroit (TB and CAR). If we can finish 2nd or 3rd, we can win the first round and then who knows.

My big takeaway is that Detroit definitely improved and paid way too much to do it. You guys can decide for yourselves whether it was worth it to try and end the drought. I’m mostly okay with it.

- Faulk is a great fit for Detroit’s needs - Arguably the best D traded after Hughes - Detroit upgrades in a meaningful way However.. - This is a crazy price to pay for a 33 year old with only 1.5 years left on his contract. All I’ll say is Detroit better make the playoffs.

@BradKrysko I'm fine with the price. The first will (hopefully) be a late-round one. The chances the 3rd would have been more than a replacement player is small. Buchelnikov is intriguing but again, the odds that he is a top-6 are not great.

@BradKrysko At this point I'm desperate enough to be thrilled for a solid NHL player.
