@ThatTimWalker The right wing loonies are gathering around Reform and their populist politics and the left wing loonies are gathering around The Green Party and their populist politics - both as dangerous and unwelcome as each other.

In the past, when the country lost faith in Labour, they’d vote Tory. Now the country has simultaneously lost faith in the Tories so it’s anyone’s guess what happens next.

Tomorrow will I predict mark the beginning of the end of the old two-party political system and in future we’ll see a succession of chaotic coalition governments. Another of the unintended consequences of Brexit.

@PeterMcCormack So what you are saying is that the business model for small coffee shops doesn't work so you expect the state, via UC and other benefits, to subsidies your staff wages. Maybe just end this type of business or find a way to make it work.

Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪
A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

The Greens will raise the minimum wage to £15 for all workers 💪

@JonathanPieNews @CorkyMrC It seems to me that those officers were a dangerous threat to life. Yes, he did a terrible thing. They tasered him, he was on the floor. Kicking him in the head, more than once, is unacceptable. And, no, I’m not a trained police officer…I’m not sure they were properly trained.

@DPJHodges Threat level should have been anticipated, after years of Israeli forces killing 10s of thousands of Palestinians, including children, there was bound to be a reaction against Israel and the mis-direction of this anger against the Jewish people is wrong but predictable.

@KhouryHowell @Chen @boneGPT There are other versions available - a lyric video, a "video" of just the song title as the song plays, so you have a choice. Like many I prefer this video with the dance and the song - whilst you try to impress with faux knowledge that makes you look rather foolish.

This is a perfect example of trying to be “creative” but using washed out themes…. You execute very well on the concept, but you become the least remembered part of the production. The choreography took away from the song and the artist because it was creative… but the setting and “bad boy” theme completely depleted the star power of the watch.
