Roth vs Traditional 401(k) is so interesting to me. On one hand deferring taxes at higher brackets to withdraw when taxes are low is easy to explain and resonates well. But, inherently that creates complexity. Maybe Roth should the default while Traditional is a strategic tool?

@Rmalloy15 No, Traditional should be the default. Traditional is a now or never decision. Roth is a now, later, or never decision.

As a medical school professor, I've watched patients struggle with diabetes drugs that cause weight gain and heart problems. That era may be ending. Scientists at the Scripps Institute designed a new class of diabetes drugs that REPROGRAM insulin-resistant cells into a healthier state -- with far fewer side effects than older medications like Avandia and Actos. How they work: - Target PPAR-gamma, a master switch that controls fat cell and insulin metabolism - Fine-tune its activity instead of blasting it wide open - Tested on both mouse and human fat cells with promising results - Published in Nature Communications The older drugs (glitazones) caused fluid retention, weight gain, bone loss, and heart failure risk. As I discuss in "Lies I Taught in Medical School," we've been treating diabetes symptoms while ignoring the metabolic root cause. These drugs go after the cellular machinery that becomes insulin resistant in the first place. Full breakdown coming on the Health Longevity Secrets podcast. @MaryBowdenMD So I have high ferritin (like 1100), all the other markers are normal (the TIBC test). AI says it's metabolic/inflammatory. Probably is since I am currently a T2 Diabetic. Interesting that it an ADHD marker.

All children with ADHD should be checked for low ferritin as well as sleep apnea before taking amphetamines. Low ferritin affects dopamine in the brain and can also manifest as restless leg syndrome.
Hans Amato@HansAmato

A 9-year-old can't sit still in class and we're prescribing amphetamines before checking ferritin. Let that sit for a second. Ferritin below 30 ng/mL in children directly impairs dopamine receptor density in the prefrontal cortex. The exact region responsible for attention, impulse control, and task persistence. That's not ADHD. That's a nutritional deficiency presenting as a behavioral disorder. Nobody checked. > Iron-deficient kids show massive symptom overlap with ADHD diagnostic criteria > Correcting ferritin to 50+ resolves or significantly reduces symptoms in a substantial percentage — without medication > Most pediatricians never order ferritin. They run a CBC, see hemoglobin is "normal," and move on A $15 blood test versus a Schedule II controlled substance for a child whose brain is still developing. And when the medication "works," nobody asks why. It works because amphetamines force dopamine release regardless of iron status. You didn't fix the problem. You overrode the warning signal. What to actually do before accepting an ADHD diagnosis: > Order ferritin specifically (not just CBC). Target 50-80+ ng/mL in kids > If low — iron bisglycinate (dosed by weight, typically 1-2mg/kg) with vitamin C. Retest in 8-12 weeks > Check vitamin D. Deficiency impairs attention and mood regulation across all ages. Target 50-70 ng/mL > Check magnesium RBC (not serum). Magnesium is directly involved in dopamine regulation and calming NMDA receptor activity > Eliminate artificial food dyes and preservatives. The research on this is not subtle > Add omega-3s (EPA/DHA). The data on omega-3s and pediatric attention is some of the strongest in nutritional neuroscience > Stabilize blood sugar. Kids eating cereal and juice for breakfast then expected to focus for 6 hours is insanity That child's brain was asking for iron. You gave it speed. The kid isn't broken. The system that diagnosed him is. I go deeper into the neuroscience behind this on my Substack. Link in bio.

This is gross, so naturally I have to share. My accountant just explained crematoriums have adapted to the obesity epidemic to prevent massive...grease...fires. Here's what they do: Turn down the heat from 2800 to 1500 Bake the entire day, instead of minutes And put...

@NeuraMeals @realDaveFeldman @whohead1 I wanted to attend, but my wife is recovering from surgery, so, nope. Would have been neat to meet some semi-locals (Philly) with similar interests.

Yes! The screening went really well—the film was incredibly well made. A few friends from the medical field attended and came up to me afterward to share how much they learned. Others also thanked me for hosting, which truly meant a lot. We had about 40 people, even though it wasn’t a huge crowd, meaningful conversations started—which was exactly the purpose. As an LMHR with an autoimmune condition, following a carnivore diet since 2022, I know how challenging and isolating this path can feel. I was deeply moved by every story and by the message your team is sharing through this powerful documentary. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, @realDaveFeldman and @nicknorwitz.

@MAHA_Action If a diabetic is getting a high sugar diet, that’s the doctor’s fault. We have to specify what kind of diet the patient should get when we write orders.

RFK Jr. just shared that hospitals were giving diabetics foods like Jell-O and Coca-Cola that worsen their condition. “A diabetic woman… was immediately offered… a Jell-O and a Coca-Cola.” “And a number of other foods that all contain sugar that are all gonna injure their metabolic system and aggravate their diabetes.” “We have the best doctors… and the finest hospitals in the world.” “But… they haven’t recognized the most important tool of medicine today is good food.”
