My latest article just published in @TheHillOpinion: "Armenia’s state is now the greatest threat to its own official Christian church" Armenia’s gravest threat today is no longer external. It is internal — a state at war with its own Church, its identity, and its foundations. A government that undermines the Armenian Apostolic Church undermines Armenia itself. @NikolPashinyan is not reforming the state — he is digging its grave. And for Armenia to survive, he must be removed from office. #Armenia #ArmenianChurch #Artsakh #ReligiousFreedom #Leadership #RuleOfLaw thehill.com/opinion/congre…

@LWCDamian Thank you, @LWCDamian. I firmly believe that if applied properly (i.e., with adequate scale and understanding of WH's own agenda) and on time, outside pressure can make a difference.

@DavidAGrigorian It sounds like you feel very strongly about this issue. Do you think outside voices can really influence such decisions, or is the White House likely to stay firm regardless?

As Vice Chair of the Armenia Caucus, I am deeply concerned about recent arrests of Armenian dissidents, including Mr. Samvel Karapetyan and clergy of the Armenian Church. Our relationship with #Armenia is built on our shared dedication to democracy. I expressed these concerns earlier today to Armenia’s Ambassador @LilitMakunts.

@Natalie63788 @JSefilian It's propaganda, spread by a Turkish asset with an Armenian last name (a female journalist). I am not aware of any such discussions in Washington.

Pleased to note that some Western (conservative) circles are beginning to see @NikolPashinyan's flaws and his isolation, and that must be progress given his past reputation as a "big friend of the West." I hope this will also open the eyes of those in the Diaspora that have until now been on the fence and refused to help those that have been fighting Pashinyan and his cronies on the ground in Armenia and in Western capitals. eclj.org/geopolitics/co…

The Trump administration is circulating a proposal to break the deadlock over a transport link through Armenia’s southern Syunik province, offering a U.S.-run commercial operator as a neutral guarantor for the route sought by Azerbaijan and Turkey, according to an analysis by Olesya Vardanyan of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, who cites diplomatic sources familiar with the talks. The plan, modeled on an earlier EU proposal, would place a U.S.-based logistics firm in charge of managing and monitoring cargo transit along the route, while sharing data with all sides. According to Vardanyan’s sources, the idea builds on the precedent of international oversight in Georgia’s breakaway regions and is intended to address Baku’s demand for long-term security guarantees while preserving Yerevan’s sovereignty over the corridor. Azerbaijan insists on an internationally guaranteed link to its Nakhchivan exclave, but refuses to invest in infrastructure across Syunik without third-party assurances. Turkey backs Baku’s position, while Armenia insists it must retain full control over customs and security. Vardanyan notes that both Turkey and Azerbaijan are skeptical about the long-term reliability of Armenian political commitments, especially in light of potential leadership changes. The U.S. model envisions American business interests as a stabilizing force, similar to a recent deal involving rare earth minerals in Ukraine. One U.S. official reportedly told Vardanyan that the plan could even lead to a Nobel Peace Prize for former President Donald Trump, suggesting that the initiative may become part of his broader foreign policy platform. While no final decision has been made, Washington is reportedly weighing whether to pressure Baku to drop its constitutional demands on Armenia or to push Yerevan to accept the American corridor model before a final peace treaty is signed. The proposal comes amid a broader regional vacuum, as Russia’s influence has diminished and EU-mediated efforts have stalled.

On July 1, 2025, a group of religious freedom organizations based in the United States co-signed the below Statement regarding Nikol Pashinyan's malign actions against the Armenian Apostolic Church, which was shared with Congressional leaders, senior members of the US Executive branch, and faith groups. The publication and dissemination of the Statement was done by Sovereign Global Solutions, the National Democratic Alliance's lobbyist in Washington, DC

Statement Condemning Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's War on the Armenian Apostolic Church We categorically denounce Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s relentless, politically motivated assaults on the sacred Armenian Apostolic Church, its devoted clergy, and, by extension, the faithful Armenian people whose spiritual, moral, and national identity are deeply rooted in their Church. His disgraceful and incendiary rhetoric is not only an affront to centuries of religious tradition but a calculated attempt to undermine the very foundation of Armenian heritage and unity. We stand in solidarity with the Armenian people and the Armenian Apostolic Church. On Friday night, May 30, 2025, Pashinyan launched a war of abusive and vulgar statements against the Armenian Apostolic Church on Facebook. In numerous postings, Pashinyan deeply offended the Church and its people, further widening the gap of trust between the Armenian people and his failing leadership. In a statement issued on June 2, His Holiness Catholicos Garegin II stated: The anti-church behavior of the head of government, the processes initiated against national values and the Church are fraught with destructive consequences and a threat to the Armenian statehood, the unity of our people both in the homeland and in the Diaspora. Such actions divide society, weaken the spirit of the nation and the high consciousness of patriotism, especially in the face of current challenges. Such reprehensible initiatives serve the aspirations of external Armenophobic forces, being to some extent connected with the slander and false accusations directed at the Armenian people and the Armenian Church by the Azerbaijani propaganda machine. In solidarity with church leaders in Etchmiadzin, the Catholicos of Cicilia, Aram I, made the following verbal statement in disapproval of Pashinyan’s hateful and blasphemous remarks: In Armenia, in recent years, we have seen an attitude towards our church that aims to marginalize the historical role of our church. We reject such steps by anyone, by any authority. We stand with our church, Holy Etchmiadzin, as a partner and collaborator. Echoing these concerns, the National Democratic Alliance, Armenia’s largest pro-Western opposition party, stated: This situation is not a random or spontaneous occurrence; it is a politically orchestrated process aimed at undermining and eradicating the essential foundations of Armenian identity. The goal is to psychologically disarm the Armenian people in the face of ongoing aggression and to strip them of any spiritual values, which are crucial for fostering voluntary resistance and action. … This barbaric assault on identity demands a serious and careful evaluation, as well as resistance and unity from our society. These oppressive, abusive and controlling attacks intend to silence and intimidate the Church, its clergy and the faithful. This unhinged behavior portrays a dangerous trend which we perceive is intended to oppress the voice, actions, and the teachings of the Church and to demoralize the Church and the Armenian faithful. This is not only an issue of religious freedom, Pashinyan’s actions attempt to eviscerate the foundational cultural institutions in which the Armenian people rest their identity. For these reasons above, we stand with the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian people and we vehemently denounce any and all such actions by PM Pashinyan against the Armenian Apostolic Church. The people must know their “heroes.” Of course, this is not a complete list. I spent a short time online to compile this much. Which forces have, up to this moment, not condemned the military coup being prepared by Galstanyan, the terrorist acts, the shooting and burning of people, as well as the repeated calls for a military coup by Ajapahyan, and have instead supported them with their statements? 1. I dedicate my latest article published by @CapX Blog to those who in these difficult days are fighting against #Pashinyandictatorship and for a free, independent, and united #Armenia. The objective of the article is to reveal the dangers of the infamous “Academic City” initiative for Armenia and why the UK universities should refrain from cooperating with an inherently anti-Armenian regime within the framework of this initiative. The article begins with my memories from the student protest on the first day of the #Artsakh movement back in February 1988, which I had a fortune of being part of. Please read and share!
