That CPR is ineffective period. I applaud the officer for trying. Don’t get me wrong. I was only a “Medic” for 20 years. And yes Critical Care Certified. When you’re doing CPR, you’re not “getting oxygen to the brain” with compressions—you’re building perfusion pressure. Specifically coronary perfusion pressure (CPP), which is what gives you a shot at ROSC and keeps some blood moving to the brain. Here’s the part people miss: Every time you stop compressions, even for 20–30 seconds, CPP (coronary perfusion pressure) drops off fast. You basically lose all that pressure you just built. When you start again, it takes a bunch of compressions just to build that pressure back up before you’re even getting meaningful flow again. That’s why high-quality, uninterrupted compressions matter so much. Every pause kills your pressure. And pressure is what keeps the brain alive. When doing proper CPR, ribs will be broken in some cases, you have to push at least 2 inch’s (adult patient). You are aiming for 100-120 beats per minute. If you have 2 people doing CPR, while 1 is doing chest compressions, have the other person check for a femoral pulse. If you can feel the femoral pulse while compressions are being done, it’s good quality CPR. And hopefully the patient will have ROSC. Hope this helps. I wasn’t bashing the cop for trying. Was just pointing out that the CPR was not being done correctly.
