An understated hero… the mighty pencil… note its sharp tip and absence of a rubber at its end… that’s a nice #ArchiveObject #Archive30 @ARAScot pic.twitter.com/WXr9FZ69rX

Hello to followers old, new and scrolling through… we are Sutton Archives, home of the London Borough of Sutton (and it’s predecessors) historical records… and it is #Archive30 the best month of the year!. We look forward to sharing some highlights from #YourArchive pic.twitter.com/elbQ086sPh

@genealgenie @alliethinks I get the feeling there is some personal experience talking?

@DavidDobie2 I'm sure you could bring lots of new information to a PhD! I wasn't sure if you were already studying but just wanted to share it so you could share it with your Scottish followers...

With Humanities PhD funding getting ever scarcer, it's worth re-upping these two FULLY-FUNDED PhD scholarships in Scottish History from @dundeeuni. Happy to answer any informal queries. Early Modern: jobs.ac.uk/job/DCU030/str… Modern: jobs.ac.uk/job/DCU031/str… @DundeeDA

@ElaineJackson12 @packrat74 Yes. Unsourced info on Find A Grave needs to be treated with extreme caution, but it can be a really good starting-point for further research of primary and reliable secondary sources.
English

@DavidDobie2 @packrat74 Must admit this is my take on it also. I'm not a contributor, but I have found a lot of useful information on FindAGrave that I hadn't seen elsewhere. I'll take info wherever it comes from, if it's accurate! 😊
English

@packrat74 An interesting point. I’m a Find a Grave contributor. I’ll create memorial pages (a) to provide details of a gravestone which is no-longer extant, but a transcription was made; (b) to link memorial pages of related people buried in same grave, eg. Grandparents/children [1/2]
English

@AllThoseBefore Unfortunately, I don’t have any specific knowledge about Dumfriesshire, but I may have some ideas that might help, @sibsandnibs, will DM you.

@digupancestors What a good write-up of some very interesting research. Really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing it, Clare.

A mysterious figure in my family history — “Aunt Becky” — lived in a Romani gypsy caravan. While searching for her true identity, I also investigated why in 1901, numerous children from London were living in a small village in the Chilterns.

@emmajolly @Ancestry @AncestryUK Afraid not. Ancestry has been getting my 100% Scottish admixture 100% right for several years, but the "Traits" need a bit more work, at least in my case.
English

Pleased to receive three free Traits from @Ancestry DNA.
Also, pleased to report they are all accurate.
Has everyone been given the same free traits or does anyone have anything different?

English

Hi @AncestryDNA, I'm not sure your "Traits" feature is working properly. But don't worry, because I fixed this one for you (#YouAreWelcome). 🤣 #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

@alliethinks Very impressed by your talk, Allie. I learned a lot about your one-place study in just 10 minutes. Congratulations on a really good job!

My #AllAboutThatPlace talk on 'Kin Edar: a House Through Time' will be going live in an hour on FB and YT @SocietyofGenealogists/videos" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@SocietyofGene…
As today's 'A Place Within a Place' talk, it looks at how the history of Kin Edar reflects some of the history of the city that grew around it.

English

@AllThoseBefore @AncestryUK Sounds to me like it's a gift from the record gods.
English

@AllThoseBefore @AncestryUK How exciting, though! Good luck with the disentangling! :-)
