Made a correction but couldn't edit, so I reposted. If the trajectory of ticket prices had increased, you'd now be looking at away ticket prices for the following: Arsenal £96 Chelsea £84 Palace £60 Everton £65 Villa £65 It's all hypothetical, of course, because we were lucky that the £30 cap came into effect.

Recently, we saw the £30 away ticket cap extended for another 2 years. I’ll admit that surprised me, especially given it was only extended by 1 year last time, whereas previous extensions had typically been for 3 years. I wanted to put the £30 cap in perspective by showing what it has meant for any #PremierLeague club over the years in terms of savings for the away match-going supporter. Some of the historical details may not be exact, and I’m happy for anyone with records from the time to sense-check, but I’m fairly confident that in the 2015/16 season, an away ticket at Arsenal was priced at £64. That included a £5 discount (a previous benefit required for away supporters). If the cap hadn’t been introduced, and using average increases as a guide, for example, tickets at Tottenham Hotspur rising from £47 in 12/13 to £54 in 15/16, would now be circa £81, Arsenal away tickets could now be somewhere around £96. At the other end of the scale, Watford was among the cheapest at £31, but could now be £47. Based on those assumptions, the potential savings for travelling support over the past decade could look something like this: 16/17: £818,015 17/18: £1,006,719 18/19: £1,238,955 19/20: £1,524,765 (partial COVID impact) 20/21: £1,876,506 (COVID-affected) 21/22: £2,309,389 22/23: £2,842,132 23/24: £3,497,772 24/25: £4,304,658 25/26: £5,297,681 That’s just under £22.5 million in potential savings for travelling supporters over that period (with roughly £2.5 million removed to account for around 18 months of COVID disruption). So, to everyone involved in securing the £30 away cap, including @WeAreTheFSA @MU_ST, and others, it’s genuinely one of the most impactful wins for match-going fans in recent years. Note: Probably best not to show this to Jim Ratcliffe.

Man City will not play a single Premier League away game this season at 3pm on a Saturday. The latest round of TV picks has moved their trip to Everton to the Monday night, confirming that none of their away games in the league this season will take place in the traditional slot.

Just listening to a conversation on the train, because the gobby twats gave no option but to. Anyway….they’re talking about their place of work and, every week, someone is appointed to be the “Head of Fun”. They’re discussing plans for when it’s their turn. I’d end up inside.

I still think the new ground talk is lip service, trying to draw attention to somehow pay for a stadium that I'm still not sure will actually happen anyhow, to quote my previous post back in January: "The new stadium, if there even is one, won’t be ready until 2035/36 at the earliest, but they’re not telling you that."
Cheeses Of Nazareth@OhCheesesChrist

When Sir Jim Ratcliffe spoke in February 2024, his central theme was "trajectory over immediate results." He preached patience while accepting full accountability for the club's direction. Nearly two years into the INEOS era, the "rough" has significantly outweighed the "smooth." Comparing his 2024 vision with the 2026 reality shows a club that has undergone a brutal, often painful structural overhaul, with on-pitch results that have tested even the most patient supporters. The current state of affairs suggests that Ratcliffe underestimated how "rough" the transition would be. While the club's operating profit has improved (£13m profit recently, compared with previous losses), the "performance on the pitch" he called his "absolute priority" has remained elusive. Let's take a look at some of his quotes. “The important thing is, I think, that we all observe the trajectory of Manchester United over the next two or three seasons, and the trajectory has to be in a good direction. So, I think that's how we should be measured by people. “I would ask for a bit of patience, but ultimately, you know, the performance of the club does sit on our shoulders. My shoulders particularly, but also Dave Brailsford, who's going to be intimately involved, and the rest of the people at the club obviously. And we need to take the rough with the smooth. “If we're successful that's fine. I think it would be nice to get a pat on the back for that. But if we're not successful then it's on our shoulders. So, we fully accept that responsibility and we're going to be very, very focused on doing all the things that we can, as well as we can, to turn Manchester United into a winning side again. “That's why we're here.” We're two seasons in, and we've been very patient. What have you really achieved? - Given Ten Haag a new contract, then sacked him - Hired and fired Dan Ashworth, not replaced him - Hired and fired Ruben Amorim, with no plan - Dave Brailsford has scaled back his involvement, he helped implement the new sporting structure and bringing in key personnel, he needs to be accountable - The lowest number of games in a season for 111 years It's alright though, the players now have the facilities that Sir Jim claims now stands "shoulder to shoulder with brands like Coca-Cola and Apple" in terms of global quality. The new stadium, if there even is one, won’t be ready until 2035/36 at the earliest, but they’re not telling you that. Sir Jim, it's on your shoulders - what are you going to do about it? ref: manutd.com/en/news/detail…

@OhCheesesChrist @SeatGeek Weight the draw is another way of seeing what demand is. Ticketmaster use their waiting room to feed their algorithm that dictates prices on the dynamic pricing format. Tickets dressed up as vip. Coldplay can say there’s £20 tickets but they don’t tell ya there’s only 50 of them

I saw a LinkedIn post earlier this week from the UK Regional Director at @SeatGeek highlighting some updates to their products. Improvements to the platform are always welcome. The obvious question, though, is when or if these updates will reach the ticketing platform used by Manchester United. (Although, if they’re already implemented, I’d have a few more questions.) From what I’ve been able to gather, one of the main updates is something called Ballots 2.0. — SeatGeek has launched Ballots 2.0, an enterprise ticketing feature designed to manage high-demand sales through a weighted-draw system. Instead of the usual first-come, first-served rush, supporters can register their interest during a set window, and tickets will then be allocated through a draw. One of the key upgrades is the ability for organisations to weight the draw. Clubs can prioritise groups such as season ticket holders, official members, or even local residents. The platform also includes anti-bot security and automated payments for successful applicants to avoid website crashes and stressful checkout experiences seen during major ticket releases. SeatGeek says the system was designed to handle “Taylor Swift-style” demand peaks while maintaining site stability and fairness. — On paper, it all sounds like a step in the right direction. However, demand at Manchester United differs significantly from that at most clubs. Applications for away games alone regularly exceed 13,000 per match, with allocations averaging 2,750. A weighted-draw system could bring improvement to away ballots, but I don’t see anything currently that would support that; that doesn’t mean that those conversations aren’t happening. We’ve also seen the ticketing website crash or introduce heavy queuing and restrictions when high-demand home tickets go on sale. Those situations often affect other users who simply want to manage their accounts or access returned away tickets. So while Ballots 2.0 sounds like a meaningful improvement, particularly the mention of anti-bot security, the real test will be how well it performs in practice. Most importantly, it will be interesting to see whether these improvements reach the Manchester United ticketing platform.
