🚨 Newsflash: Judaism nor Christianity would exist as we know them without Zoroastrianism. 🙌🏻 Most people have never heard of it because if they did, it would completely undermine the claim that Judaism is the pure 'precursor' to Christianity with no outside influence. It was the Zoroastrians who pioneered: - Strict good vs. evil dualism - A powerful evil adversary (Angra Mainyu → prototype for Satan/devil) - Angels and demons - Heaven and hell as afterlife destinations - Final judgment + resurrection of the dead Zoroastrianism created the core to the later Abrahamic faiths that we practice today 🙌🏻 These ideas exploded in Jewish thought during/after the Babylonian Exile under Persian rule (when Jews were exposed to Zoroastrianism). Before that? The Hebrew Bible barely mentions any of it. So yeah… the 'original' monotheism borrowed heavily from the even older and ACTUAL original Persian faith. Mind blown yet? 🤷🏻♂️
