@Philip_Goff @BanjoAtheist If I were to lean this way, I'd say there's simply rules to this material 3D realm. We get to smell, see, hear and feel in a realm of rules that make that possible. God's realm maybe be more peaceful and omnipotent, but you don't get to taste Malteasers or smell a Rose

@BanjoAtheist I think God has limited power, and so had limited options. I also don't think only Christians are saved.

@FPLfrasier I'm a Liverpool fan and Salah was obviously a striker from wide, not a winger. You're wrong on Mane though. Proper winger, just did more than most

'Hunter-gatherer' is a myth A modern label slapped onto 1,000,000s of years of human life we barely have evidence for.

@Philip_Goff @markocheese It was just a 'reason to think' there's more to feelings than just how they feel. If feelings can mutate the physical realm, there's more to them than just 'ouch, that's hot' for example, even if we just do the mutating to ourselves after said feeling.

I think it's self-evident that: (A) a feeling is essentially defined by how it feels, just as a triangle is essentially by having 3 sides. (B) you know (more or less) how a feeling feels when you feel it. What do others think on this?
Bernard Jennings@NZJennings

@Philip_Goff "Direct access" to consciousness is assumption not fact. Recursive self-monitoring theory predicts meditated access: coarse-grained summaries of processing. Feels direct as introspective opacity hides mediation. Architectural feature, not metaphysical boundary 1/3

@Carra23 @EBL2017 You don't 'get across' there, legislating for two midfielders not following a runner, leaving it 2 on 2 in the middle. No way. You'd be screaming at Mac and Jones, not vacating your position, anticipating two players making the same error.

@EBL2017 It’s not missing the point at all, it was a daft challenge that didn’t need to be made. Jones/mac should match the run but AGAIN look at the distance between FB & CB! VVD should be 5yrds over at least & is looking right at it, so should read the situation & get across.

If I saw this at u10 level I'd be tearing my hair out. Neither Jones or Mac Allister communicate to manage the run right beside them. They know it's there, but neither are diligent enough to take responsibility to manage it. Blaming Alisson is missing the point entirely. 😡

@Philip_Goff Maybe all it needs is a leap of faith? In that, thinking you're conscious might just be a form of consciousness.

@Benthamsbulldog @Philip_Goff Surely the first post wasn't just talking about box ticking farms? More, the much better ones. And those are the ones that should be supported, with the overriding point being animal welfare, as you know some people will always choose meat.

@Philip_Goff I'd obviously take 4 humans farms over 2 factory farms, but so what? At the margins you're generally choosing between a "humane farm" which likely still has animals living bad lives, as well as seriously risks violating rights, vs buying plants.

Even if there are no *high* welfare farms, there are certainly *higher* welfare farms. Ethical Dairy does not separate cows from calves. Vegan option: Reduce dairy farming. Humane-itarian option: Increase % of Ethical Dairy in market. Option 2 will decrease suffering more: To massively simplify: Suppose we start with 5 Ethical Dairies & 5 normal dairies. I'd rather 7 Ethical Dairies and 3 normal dairies than 4 Ethical Dairies and 4 normal dairies.
florence 🦐🪻@morallawwithin

1. There are no high-welfare farms whatsoever. Getting killed at a very young age is very bad, and the fact that there are others who have it even worse doesn’t make it less bad. 2. If I had some clever scheme to kill people to save more lives total, you’d find some reason to tell me not to do that. Maybe the normal reasons, or maybe you’d be a sophisticated consequentialist who tells me about second-order effects, or what have you. The same applies here. I touch on these points in a recent post. open.substack.com/pub/morallawwi…

Optimus will be amazing for protecting and taking care of your elderly parents
Adam Lowisz X Meetup 🇺🇸🇵🇱🇪🇺🇬🇧🇺🇦@AdamLowisz

This is a great discussion by @elonmusk at the WEF in Davos on how Optimus will help the elderly. Our population is aging rapidly. Just the other day my grandmother fell and broke her hip. She lives by herself about an hour drive from me, so it's difficult to be there all the time. She was found on the floor laying for 5 hours. The only way we knew something was wrong was because she wasn't answering the phone, we had to drive an hour to see what happened. She refuses a caregiver who lives in the neighborhood to come in and check in on her, she insists that she doesn't need help. Optimus would be a huge lifesaver for her. She can still maintain her independence and have Optimus there to help her when she needs it. Optimus can adjust its help based on her personality and observing what she needs help with so she can still feel independent and active without all the dangers that come with being nearly 90 years old.

Remember when the CIA got a Remote Viewer (Joe McMoneagle) to view the Planet Mars from 1,000,000 years BC and he witnessed MASSIVE Pyramid structures built by a humanoid race who were dying out from the climate destabilising and some of them had left for a nearby planet? I do.
