My dearest friend, Robert White, left us yesterday. I was with him only a couple of hours before he died as he sank into a deeper and deeper rest. He was a great musician and singer, a devoted teacher @JuilliardSchool a generous host, a wicked raconteur, a perfect dinner companion, wildly funny, deeply sensitive to beauty of all kinds. A lovely day, in every way, ⁦@kingscambridge⁩ meeting lots of people before starting a term from April to July as acting Director of Music. The choir sounds wonderful and it is a privilege to have been asked to do this by their amazing Director Dan Hyde.

The Abbey is profoundly saddened by the sudden death of Robert (Berty) Rice, a cherished member of the St Margaret’s Consort and valued Deputy Lay Vicar for the Choir of Westminster Abbey. His death comes as an immense shock, and the loss we feel as a community is beyond measure.

Just wondering @LNER why stopping at Stevenage keeps happening on a direct train to Peterborough? As a result it added more than 10 mins to the journey and waiting several minutes more.

@johnamonaco @BestBuy Great post, and couldn’t agree more. Just wanted to add that part of the architecture in your photo is the hideous organ case, obviously designed to fit with the overall aesthetic. Organ cases can and should be things of beauty in themselves.

@DerekL03 @DrDavidPrice @FerretKingRT An interesting point: in my view sound changes as the individual singers join, leave or graduate. Maintaining and developing a tradition is partly about ensuring the individual singers feel empowered to connect with each other.

It’s important we take this seriously and Dan Hyde has said what many think but are not prepared to say.
