Ten things every person in the world should know about airborne disease transmission *before* bird flu goes human to human:

To rewrite Klompas was correct. It was closeness of HCWs to infected, particularly symptomatic people, for periods of time which exposed under protected HCWs. HCWs should have had lower rates of infection than the general pop as they should have been protected during work time

Why did I waste 3 years getting a BSc in Microbiology with first class honours? After all of that, I didn't even know that vectors have nothing to do with the spread of infection. It turns out that infections are actually spread by dust. Loving NHS mandatory training!

It’s a shame they’re not reporting nosocomial (hospital-acquired) Covid infections anymore in England. I guess they don’t want people constantly pointing out how their current infection controls (handwashing) don’t do a lot to prevent the spread of AIRBORNE viruses.

Of all the patients currently in hospital with Covid in Wales, 74% of them were admitted to hospital for a different reason & ended up being infected with Covid DURING THEIR HOSPITAL STAY. This is the inevitable consequence having NO airborne infection controls in hospitals.

@Oldboatie @PJeffcock @annesmithmcc @GwynneMP @ProfEmer @CliveBeggs @SafeDavid3 @EvonneTCurran @mdc_martinus @DRTomlinsonEP @JOHNJOHNSTONED @mvankerkhove As with everything, this is not black and white. The proportion of droplets vs aerosols we exhale varies due to physical activity, temp, humidity etc. There's virus in both. Droplets will both fall and evaporate into smaller aerosol particles as long as humidity isn't too hi.

@AmandaPritchard Amanda given that most of the viruses you mentioned are airborne, why hasn’t NHSE declared FFP2/3 respiratory mandates as per WHO advice for all hospitals to try &contain spread from patient to patient, patient to staff & staff to patients & reduce nosocomial acquired infection?

@UKHSA 🔎 SPOT THE DIFFERENCE After weeks of having every single social media post being bombarded with people telling them how inadequate their advice was for not including any steps to prevent transmission of AIRBORNE viruses… …guess what @UKHSA have FINALLY added to their advice?
