anthropic is working on its own always-on agent solution called conway! it is literally said it could change the future forever, never tokenized conway will have a separate ui instance, will be able to operate browser, connectors, claude code and could be invoked via webhooks. it will also support extensions, an upcoming cnw zip standard from anthropic to build custom tools, ui tabs, and context handlers! “AI is winner take all. Is it going to be OpenAI or Anthropic or…” What would have to be true for this to be a flawed narrative? Consider… Capabilities commoditize. Frontier models, open source, specialized SLMs. It’s already happening. The volume becomes unimaginable. Agents don’t make one inference call. They make hundreds. Per session. Multiply that across every person, every workflow, every autonomous system running in parallel. Trillions of requests per day isn’t a ceiling. It’s a floor. There’s an emerging orchestration and SLM segment that will rival the frontier labs. Rockefeller didn’t make his fortune drilling. He built Standard Oil on refineries and pipelines. Frontier labs are drilling for oil. Valuable. Necessary. Trillion dollar businesses. But oil drilling was never a moat. Code was never a moat. And neither is frontier lab capability. AI won’t kill moats. It will expose which ones were real. But concluding this means frontier labs are vulnerable is also too simple. The ocean is blue and vast. The narrative is not optimistic enough.

US frontier labs staying private, Chinese ones going public. two completely different capital formation strategies. US labs raising private to delay dilution. Chinese labs tapping public markets for faster liquidity. my read: the funding gap isn't about who has more capital. it's about which structure ships better products faster. we'll know by year-end.
