@DallasStarsDDH This one feels different. We shall see tomorrow but it looks like the Wild want it more.

For what it's worth. The Dallas Stars lost game 1 against Colorado last year 5-1. They went on to win the series. #TexasHockey

@samnestler Modano played the entire 99 Cup final with a broken hand what’s Glass House Hintz excuse besides the fact he’s pathetic and overpaid

@trev10_ @victoryplustv @DallasStars I agree with him. Skaters in front of Jake looked like they were at the Galleria for a fun skate w/their high school girlfriend. Dallas didn’t dictate the game.

@victoryplustv @DallasStars Gulutzan is awesome. The players need to show up and want to win. Minnesota looked great tonight, Stars leaders went through the motions. Hopefully they want game 2.

@seanshapiro They seem to like living on the edge. As D Ben Lovejoy said back in 2019, “Sometimes this team feels a little too good about themselves.” And when they feel too good about themselves, they don’t bring the passion or the urgency. They think they can show up and win.

@minwildtroll @BruceLeVinePuck @DallasStars Well aware of what Broten said. Like I said, when they moved here Modano approved. He said he wanted to go someplace warm. Well aware Modano works for the Wild now, never played for them.

@Noisey_Crickket Good point. I’m guessing the Coyotes owners did not relinquish their rights to Utah but Utah somehow took over that exact franchise. They didn’t have to build a team like Seattle, Vegas, Columbus, etc. Bettman/NHL are all about the money, not the sport.

@minwildtroll @BruceLeVinePuck @DallasStars The owner at the time, Norm Green, said he had to move because your city did not want to provide the team with an arena with more seating capacity. Not sure why a real estate guy couldn’t build it but I’m sure that’s how he got rich. Modano approved of the move.

@garylawless @PierreVLeBrun I do appreciate your perspective but I think this is a flaw in all of our major sports to crown a champion when the format is weighted by division play.

@lmJosh09 @JoshBogorad Nill could have possibly traded a big contract to get off the books to make this happen but otherwise I do agree with what you are saying.

@DavidKochis2 @JoshBogorad He's an incredible talent, don't get me wrong. But crippling the ceiling of the team in place is exactly what Jim Nill has avoided the last few years. I think a Hughes move might extend the window, but the next couple of years wouldn't have been as good talent-wise.

This is a list of key, lineup regulars and how many games they missed this season. 11 different guys, out 261 combined games. The Stars finished with 112 points - tied for their 3rd best season ever. An incredible job by Glen Gulutzan, his staff, and the entire Stars team.

@DavidKochis2 @JoshBogorad I don't think it's unrealistic to say that if the ask to the Stars was 3 NHLers and a first, the Stars would probably be a much less deep team with less legitimate opportunity for a cup this year. We have a couple more top heavy contracts on the books than they do, too.

@BruceLeVinePuck @DallasStars That’s a good one but the owner for the Browns relinquished that. Oilers kept their history and the Wild have their own history.

@lmJosh09 @JoshBogorad You are right about the cap and draft assets, but would have tried to make that trade. Minnesota gave up 3 players (1 known + 2 w/potential) and a 1st. Hughes is Makar-level good IMO.

@DavidKochis2 @JoshBogorad We didn't have the assets to acquire Quinn Hughes without severely impacting our cup window (or the cap space). The rentals over the last few years severely depleted our draft capital, so you'd be giving up someone like Robertson, Johnston, etc. to make that move.

@garylawless @PierreVLeBrun I disagree and don’t think this format works and rewards teams that played well during the regular season. Trying to force rivalries is dumb. We see this in each major sport where it’s all about the divisions.

@DavidKochis2 @PierreVLeBrun well, I would counter that this format makes the regular season extremely important. All we have to do is look at the NBA and its format to find a regular season which doesn't matter. It should also be noted, playoff format wasn't brought up by either side during last CBA talks.
