I haven't been able to sign into @Datawrapper with a Google account all morning. Is it just me or is this a Datawrapper problem?

@currankelleher @saurabhp75 @Datawrapper There's a million services that do the basics here (like Urlbox.com, ScreenshotCloud, ScreenshotAPI.net), but in the end requirements tend to vary so people build their own solutions. Cloudflare supports 'Browser Rendering' for their Worker runtime as well.

@saurabhp75 Or something like @Datawrapper where users generate visualizations, and those need thumbnails and unfurl images for social media that are up to date.

Anyone building products that need automatically generated thumbnails and unfurl images for user generated content? How do you solve that problem?

@Datawrapper I did see that thanks. I tried that way originally and that led me to ask the question. When I embedded it in a responsive iframe and added lazy loading it performed much better on both performance and accessibility. Happy to share the reports. I may be missing something

There probably isn't anything more frustrating than when @Datawrapper's site hangs when I'm trying to download a published chart. The process normally takes seconds and yet, here I am waiting for 10 minutes...

Sometimes getting status 524 error responses @Datawrapper lately (when using the export charts api). Never happened before in the past. We did not change a single bit of code. IDK what to do 🤷‍♀️

@BryanMyrick Point taken - though the map you are seeing was created with Datawrapper’s Free plan, and we can’t make it less expensive than that.

I have to be honest. My first thought is that I wish Datawrapper was less expensive. But the data here is also worth discussing.

@nacho_lopez @Datawrapper Its not updating data for sure, link external dataset does not update data in specified intervals. This has been a pain for last few days.

@baekdal @luckyisgood Most features other charting tools like to charge you $49 a month for (using all viz types, unlimited charts, non-public charts, embedding on the web, exporting as image), we offer for free instead. So in practice, it's more a matter of "more free features" than "higher price"

That's quite a big jump in price from 'free' to 'monthly' ;)
