For decades, “neuroinflammaging”, the slow-burning inflammation that causes brain fog and memory decline, was considered an unavoidable part of getting older. However, a landmark study suggests the clock can be turned back. Researchers developed a non-invasive nasal spray that uses microscopic “delivery parcels” to travel directly into the brain. With just two doses, the therapy dramatically reduced chronic inflammation, recharged cellular “power plants” (mitochondria), and restored memory and cognitive sharpness in aging models. neurosciencenews.com/nasal-spray-re… #neuroscience #brain #science (1/3)

I’d welcome comments and suggestions on the topic of cognitive performance optimization. It’s a high demand topic for folks in my neck of the woods. Here’s some of our initial ideas. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41451419/

@MasudHusain How do you think these interventions work compared to the effects of methylphenidate - our main “go to” treatment for disabling apathy?

@RuxandraTeslo Not true. We still do experiments on human patients (with their informed consent) all the time. Ethos is alive and well.

Reading a book abt the birth (&fall) of modern medicine, which identifies the desire to take calculated risks on individual patients for the benefit of science as a key driver of the progress we've seen in medicine in the last century. Afraid we've lost that ethos.

Together with @SpectralMedical, we just announced the topline results from the Tigris trial. This Phase 3 follow-on study sponsored by Spectral evaluated the use of Polymyxin B Hemoadsorption (PMX) in a randomized clinical trial of adults treated for endotoxic septic shock. Read about the results here vntv.co/3UmiUCW We are encouraged by these results, and we’re committed to supporting clinical research to advance vital organ therapy innovation. We look forward to continuing to work to #ExpandPossibilities and improve outcomes for critically ill patients.

@neubadah @shansiddiqi We teach our students to be their own sharpest critics. One of the best compliments I’ve ever gotten was when one of our papers was discussed at a journal club and they told me that we had already pointed out all of the limitations that they noted in their discussion.
