USAID projects inject approximately 1.4 Trillion (That is 1,400 Billion) annually into Uganda. Their projects employ Ugandans, buy our furniture, staff buy our produce, staff of USAID projects also employ other Ugandans. But above all, USAID money helps our government pay for somethings we can’t afford. They support @MinofHealthUG in response to HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, maternal and child health, family planning, nutrition, water and sanitation, and emerging pandemic threats, The @usmissionuganda is the largest single donor of humanitarian assistance in Uganda, supporting emergency food and nutrition assistance, medical care, water, prevention of and response to gender-based violence, and livelihoods support to refugees and their neighboring communities.  This is just about 20% of the work USAID has been doing in Uganda. Without USAID, the Government of Uganda has to do all these things itself. Government needs to find money to keep these services going on without the support of the American people. There are only 3 ways that a Government can find money without donations; 1. Increasing taxes 2. Reducing expenditure(firing people and closing some offices) 3. Borrowing Which of the 3 do you think our government is most likely to do? As a taxpayer, I wouldn’t celebrate that we are about to lose a free 400 Million dollars and my government is about to squeeze me tighter to find it.
