If you are a Catholic this should offend you. President Trump attacking the Catholic Church is completely unwarranted and extremely distasteful. He should be well aware that Catholics account for at least half of the MAGA base. Catholics, like myself, got him elected and many staff his administration. Messaging like this is only going to hurt GOP turnout in the midterms.

You’re asking questions that can’t be answered in short posts. Essentially you’re asking questions regarding big chunks of the history of Christianity and its development in the U.S. over the 20th century. That may be why no one answers. If you’re really interested try grokking those questions & when you’ve got enough meat on the bone to work with, find the books that address it.

It’s also perverse to pretend that you’re helping the civilian population by means that actually harm it. And if you say “But it’s OK to bomb infrastructure when the Iranian military needs it too,” that’s a red herring fallacy. Trump is not threatening to bomb civilian infrastructure in order to stop the movement of tanks, the electrical power supply to military bases, and the like. He’s doing it in order to pressure the Iranian government to capitulate. But it is immoral to harm the civilian population as a means of putting pressure on the government (just as it would be immoral to harm a bank robber’s children as a means of trying to pressure him to surrender). What Trump is doing is simply contrary to just war conditions, period.

Tucker sees the problem. Many have seen it, and many have concluded that a new Protestant denomination will fix it. But there are thousands of denominations. It never works, and can’t. The solution is for everyone to return home to the Catholic Church.
