NEWS: INDYCAR Officiating has issued a post-race technical inspection penalty to the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing entry following the Indy 500 for violating speedway front wing end plate height requirements. The entry has been penalized five championship driver and entrant points and the team has been fined $10,000.

45 years ago, Danny Ongais suffered one of the most violent crashes in Indianapolis 500 history when his car slammed into the Turn 3 wall. He suffered a concussion, compound fractures in both legs, a broken arm, and a six inch tear in his diaphragm. Just one year later, he returned to racing at full capacity, the definition of die hard. Ongais would go on to compete in the Indy 500 six more times, later earning induction into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2000 and the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. Danny passed away on February 26, 2022, at the age of 79.

Mercedes was actually SLOWEST in the fastest chicane! 🟧NOR: Couldn't stay full-throttle as consistently as others. Strong deployment, but had to save energy on the main straight 🟥HAM: Quickest in the fastest corner! (+4km/h vs RUS; possibly the best downforce).
