Me and the lads always loved talking about the best “first songs” of the great bands’ (studio LP) discographies, evergreen topic right there “In a Big Country,” “Blister in the Sun,” “Welcome to the Jungle,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” etc Chat, what else we got??

@TitusAndronicus TMLT messed me up. I love that album but it also terrifies the shit out of me. I fucking love the Monitor but over the last few years I've listened to Airing of Grievances significantly more. Fear & Loathing is one of the all time great debut songs.

They should pick Walz so Kamala can make this joke: “They wanna build a wall? Let me be clear. I’ve got Walz.”

@michaelschaub @mariskreizman Lol I love this. They had a promo tape with a cover of Unity by Operation Ivy that was actually pretty good. Covers, man.

Nice to see American Fiction win for best adapted screenplay, although it was strange Percival Everett wasn't credited in the acceptance speech.

@TheLincoln I had a book blip at 15 and 16 and only read fanzines and magazines. Didn't even read for school. Before that it was Clancy, Crichton, and Grisham. Later in high school I read Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man although my favorite was Trainspotting.

@Jo_Livingstone Alternative translation: "The audience doesn't want to go to a Christian [Bale] movie. They want to go to a Christopher [Nolan] movie."

@KateDwyer Great piece and heartbreaking. A minor edit: in 1985 nobody “checked” a phone. A phone rang back then and if you had an answering machine you would listen to the message. But no one really checked a phone until 2015ish.
