After 10 years of experimenting, we have a far better idea of what alternative payment models work and don't. Those that make providers responsible for all of patients' spending for a year, like ACOs, do far better. Let's not generalize all APMs. healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377/hbl…

From @ASlavitt at #DukeMargolisPolicyConf: Even if everyone was in FFS, you'd still need value-based care. Even if 80% of Medicare were MA, plans could truly compete on value. So if it's 100% FFS or mostly MA, you still need accountable care. @DukeMargolis

It's not being mentioned here or in other news stories, but there are some important ACO-specific policies ending today. CMS will no longer remove COVID-related inpatient claims from spending and will only protect ACOs from 5/12 of shared losses. modernhealthcare.com/policy/covid-1…
