For many startups, this is becoming their most important hire - a first principles thinker who is AI-native, curious, and willing to do whatever it takes to win leads and multiply revenue. But when the frontier of a field is moving as fast as this one, it's hard to keep up. There's no curriculum, no playbooks for what works/doesn't... the rate limiter on acceleration becomes how quickly practitioners at the bleeding edge can share information - exchange notes on what worked/didn't in a high trust environment. So - today we’re introducing the a16z Growth Engineer Fellowship - an 8-week cohort bringing together a group of of the best ~50 growth leaders, engineers, AI-native GTM leaders, and agent builders shaping the future of company growth. Insanely stoked about the @a16z growth engineer fellowship. There are multiple times in my career where I made months of progress due to a single conversation with an expert who was 1 step ahead of me. These growth experts helped me see around the corners of my own particular problem situation. I always left those conversations craving more. Why can’t I learn even faster? The problem with “growth” events though, is adverse selection: growth is easy to superficially talk about, and everyone wants to claim that they “drove revenue from $Xm to $XYZm”. What’s much harder is actually developing the first-principles understanding needed to solve growth problems from scratch. We’re building a small group of people who know that curiosity, openness and ruthless, scrappy, experimentation is the only way forward in a world where all the channels are saturated, and AI developments change the ways companies grow every 6 months. We’re looking for the best growth thinkers and doers—people who have made numbers inflect up-and-to-the-right at some of the world’s best technology companies—and who've also got the scars from 100s of failed experiments run along the way. It’s the group I wish I was part of when I started my career in growth. Social: build the biggest go-direct channels for the firm and top-tier CEOs, drive content strategy, design and audience growth. Research: help us curate the most important conversations in tech.
