[BREAKING NEWS] ANC-Linked Beneficiaries Pocket Over R450 Million in Mafikeng Land Scandal‼️‼️‼️ The National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit has successfully recovered land valued at R144 million that was unlawfully taken from the Mahikeng Local Municipality through fraud and corruption. It is alleged that ANC-linked individuals benefited to the tune of over R450 million from the scheme. After years of protracted legal battles, including four preservation orders, a final forfeiture order was granted on 31 October 2024, officially vesting the land in the state. The property, originally earmarked for low-cost housing, public schools, and community amenities was formally handed over to the municipality by Andy Mothibi, National Director of Public Prosecutions, on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. Speaking at the handover, Mothibi issued a stern warning: “Let this serve as a clear message to those who seek to enrich themselves through corruption and the abuse of public trust: illicitly acquired assets will not be enjoyed in peace. They will be pursued. They will be preserved.
