@Alicia_Smith19 Idk how you get there, but to me the trade off involves significantly increasing the number of seats in total to reflect population growth, and ideally drawing almost exclusively on competitiveness…

UK has a parliamentary system+therefore the entire power of its national gov is based on who controls most seats (decided by districts) in House of Commons
But given that, constituency map drawings are *much* less controversial than in US..We need a better way to draw maps here

Please join me in saying a prayer for Senator Krueger. Disagree with her on a lot of policy issues, but she’s a genuinely good person and New York would be a better place if more lawmakers were as serious and thoughtful as her. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Per capita, this is the lowest homicide rate in U.S. history. The data for the 1800s is sparse, but it was apparently in the 5–10 range.
