This question came up in one of my interviews and honestly, I majored in it to convince them of my passion for advanced science and technology. I told them: • I completed my one-year national service 🇳🇬 • I was determined to do science at a higher level—with access to state-of-the-art research and instrumentation 🔬 • Coming from a humble background, I couldn’t afford international education, so I aggressively pursued scholarships 💪 • I faced multiple rejections… until Germany finally gave me that opportunity 🎓✨ By the time I finished, you could see it in their faces—it wasn’t just a “gap” anymore, it was a story of persistence, clarity, and ambition. And truthfully? I knew I wanted more. After a first class, I didn’t want to settle—I wanted to experience science, not just study it 🚀 After that interview… I knew I’ll be getting that job in the most critical companies in the world 🌍

When I was still in DevOps. I was paid ridiculous amount. I mean, paycheck that couldn't even subscribe for my monthly starlink. When I felt I wasn't paid enough,I left. I didn't stay and not do the tasks I was given. I left. One of my jobs,I wanted to negotiate for a raise but I didn't just tell the business owner that I needed a raise,I had a list of things I had done for the business to back up my negotiation. Another business I work for,I was very vehiment about what I felt I was deserving of in pay. I was able to have an extra $350 added to my initial pay they put on the table. The jobs I do,if there's one thing you'll never hear them say is that I do not do my job well. I sometimes even over deliver. Very prompt with response and my deliverables. So,I can never understand why a business will employ you and you do your job with laxity because you feel the pay isn't enough. If you do not know the art of negotiation,then quit. Some of you lack self discipline. You don't just go saying,"I am not comfortable with what I'm being paid and if it cannot be reviewed or if it's not convenient for you, no problem, I'll just leave." Goodbye Felicia. They already know they have nothing to lose when you leave and if you ever get to that point, know that you've been doing their business bad. That's not how to negotiate for a salary increase. Show proof why you are deserving of it. Someone like me,from my first time working,I'm documenting every thing I've done to grow the company and I will come with numbers. Percentage,whole numbers, amount;I must come with metrics to back my negotiation. When they refuse to accept your negotiation, you see the company as bad. Many at times, you don't even put dedication to what you do yet you want a raise. We can't keep saying that there's no job if we do not have the soft skill to do our jobs well. Some of you, because you aren't micromanaged,you can go days not doing anything. It's a terrible attitude and I detest people who do so. Instead of crumbling someone's business, just quit. You can't lack work ethic and want the rewards that come with it. Break your damn back and put in your best if you aren't able to negotiate, and when you do and you feel your mind isn't in the job,leave the job peacefully. "Ability to work under pressure and take responsibility",yet your employer doesn't have any good thing to say about your work ethics. A lot of learners on VulnBank occasionally message me in the middle of their hacking sessions or training to report that the app is down, along with other issues related to the DB connection pool. I pushed an update a few hours ago to auto-heal exited containers. This means that whenever someone crashes the app, its container will automatically restart. I also implemented a workflow that clears the container’s volume every three weeks at midnight, so learners can have a cleaner dashboard experience in case others have defaced it with cross-site scripting payloads. Okay, let's set aside the fact that a physical first-round interview is honestly outdated at this point ... It's 2026 broo How do you send someone an interview invite at midnight for the next day? Do they assume candidates have nothing else going on? No commitments, no schedule, no life outside of waiting by their inbox? That kind of last-minute notice says a lot. A workplace is more than just a location bro... it's where your career takes its first real steps. How a company treats you before you even work there is a preview of how they'll treat you once you do. Their process, their communication, their respect for your time, all of it matters. My take ? Send an email to them asking for a virtual interview or request a reschedule to fit your calendar. Your own go still be your own.
