Sen. Robin Padilla took a swipe at long-serving senators, saying their numerous terms in office have not translated into meaningful progress for ordinary Filipinos.
“Sa panahon niyo, wala naman din napala ang mahihirap, manggagawa, magsasaka, mangingisda, maglulupa, at iba pang manpower ang kalakal,” he wrote on Facebook.

@PinoyWondering @AlexBNFC Kung may nagawa ang majority ha Ano bang nagawa nang batas ni Robin na principal author siya? Lol. @PinoyWondering Nobody memorizes speeches during discussions. Even in court and debates, participants bring index cards and written documents to refer to. Hindi teatro ang Senado.
Filipino

@AlexBNFC Galing sa teatro pero hindi marunong magkabisa ng script. Ano ba yan?!?!
Filipino

@AlexBNFC What’s wrong with index cards? A well thought out speech needs outline and facts — mas gusto mo wala? That’s close to impossible, even Miriam prepared a speech. Wait, gusto m b si Bato na iiyak, lulubod, tatakbo, nadadala then nagsusumbong na parang tanga sa senado. Lol

Asked about Senator Erwin Tulfo’s remark that the proposed amendment in Senate rules was being railroaded for the benefit of senators who could end up in jail, Padilla replied: “’Wag naman kayo ganyan magsalita.” | @eimorpsantos

International law expert Melissa Loja slammed the NBI’s move to tag PGMN Lead Anchor CJ Hirro as a person of interest in former House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s ₱350 million extortion complaint, warning that it attacks press freedom.
Loja spoke after NBI Director Melvin Matibag confirmed Hirro was included in the complaint affidavit and would be summoned. Hirro anchors the PGMN documentary at the center of the corruption exposé against Romualdez.
“Targeting an anchor who happens to be ‘anchoring’ the documentary against Romualdez is targeting press freedom,” Loja told The Manila Times. “The purpose is clearly to silence the anchor and prevent her/him from presenting the documentary.”
PGMN has never directly or indirectly communicated with Loja. Her warning did not come from coordination with the network, but from looking at the case honestly, while a plethora of dishonest influencers, troll farms, and paid media figures were caught pushing the false extortion narrative.
PGMN has maintained that the NBI operation was not entrapment, but instigation. He said the other side reached out first and repeatedly pursued contact before they were framed for extortion.
Loja also warned that the NBI’s cyber warrant must not target the documentary itself.
“The cyber warrant should not include the documentary itself. Questioning the documentary itself is attacking the speech content already,” she said.
She also urged the public to be doubtful of law enforcement footage from the NBI presented without full context, especially when those exposing powerful corruption are suddenly the ones being accused.
Romualdez has unleashed paid media, lying influencers, and obvious troll farms to incorrectly brand PGMN as criminals before the truth is tested in court. For years, corruption has devastated the Philippines, and Martin Romualdez stands as the single most corrupt Filipino politician of the 21st century.
If state power can be used to stop a documentary before the public sees it, then press freedom itself is on trial in this administration.
