Kurt wrote to @POTUS about how the #PSLF program has impacted his life.

“On Friday, August 18, 2023, you and your administration changed my life. I received an email that said my student loans were forgiven...I had to call Aidvantage and speak to an actual human to believe it. When she said, ‘Congratulations, your loans have been forgiven,’ I cried.”

“I wanted to tell you that I picked up my son’s insulin recently, and when the cashier told me the bill was $48, I told her she must be mistaken. She must mean $480. The cost for his insulin had been about $475 for a 3-month supply with excellent insurance.”

“The child in me would like to thank you for your quiet and determined efforts to help children who stutter. I stutter and longed for someone to take me under their wing…your positive messages matter to the young people you keep in contact with.”

Jill and I join the people of Buffalo in honoring the memories of the 10 souls stolen from us in an unconscionable act of hatred against the Black community two years ago. I know how painful these anniversaries can be, and I want you to know you remain in my prayers.

On #EqualPayDay, we continue working toward the promise of equal pay.

Joining me at my State of the Union is Keenan, a public school educator from Minnesota. He's prepared hundreds of students for college. And because of fixes we made to our Public Student Loan Forgiveness program, he can now afford to send his own daughter to college.

Today, Jill and I mourn the loss of Ady Barkan and offer our deepest condolences to Rachael, Carl, and Willow during such a difficult time. He turned his pain into purpose and, in turn, inspired optimism in the hearts of countless people living with ALS and their loved ones It’s like he said in a speech just one month ago, “Staying in the struggle can bring beautiful rewards.” I know from experience what it’s like to lose a piece of your soul to a deadly disease – to watch the most honorable person you know fight until the last breath with absolute courage and character. I hope Ady's family can find some measure of comfort in knowing that Ady’s legacy will endure through them, and all those whose lives he touched.

Diana is a young woman who's raising her voice to fight for environmental justice for families like hers. She expressed interest in joining the next generation of clean energy, conservation, and climate resilience workers in our American Climate Corps — So, I gave her a call.
