@KerryBurgess @Bottoms_bray I hope you are right but I fear not enough. Unfortunately there are plenty of poorly educated and politically uniformed people in all age brackets that's why Reform have made such gains. Especially in my locality sadly and many of the voters for them were the under 30s.

There are now so many young people on social media who are well-informed and politically astute. It honestly gives me hope for the future, despite moronic old bastards of my age voting for Reform, the Tories, and Starmer's Labour...

@ICT_MrP It's a shame isn't it. At least one of my grown up kids would make a wonderful teacher yet I wouldn't wish the stress and inflexibility of it on them. I wouldn't discourage them if it was what they wanted. It is still a wonderful enriching profession if you have the resilience.

Would you encourage your own child to choose a career in teaching? According to this recent teachertapp poll most teachers wouldn’t, and I can’t say I disagree.

@DarrellWakelam Your drawing has a wonderful textural sculpture quality to it. In the way that you could see the inner sculptor of Henry Moore via his sketchbooks.

People who see my work online or in schools often ask me if I draw . . . I've always drawn. My degree wasn't in sculpture, it was illustration. This bed sketch was an entrance piece for college, I was 16. The two statues are from my current sketchbook. 🙂 darrellwakelam.com

When I started teaching, I was given this book. The school I was at wanted triple mounted displays, with perfectly formed cursive writing! I wished I took a photo.

Sad news - my lovely stepdad Larry died yesterday - peacefully at the age of 94. A huge part of our lives for 40 years. A professor of Medieval Latin, he published his last book - on a 14th C poem - just two years ago. He’s been a much loved Grandpa - full of stories, poems and songs. We’re all going to miss him enormously. Love you Laz 🙏❤️
