Is the state pension really so 'meagre'? Let's take a look... The basic state pension is just £12,547 a year. But... Only around 15% of pensioners rely on the state pension alone. The vast majority have other income from private pensions etc., which is exactly how our system is designed to work (and why the UK has generous tax breaks for pension contributions). The small proportion of pensioners whose only source of income is the state pension are entitled to other benefits in addition, including pension credit, housing benefit and council tax support. A pensioner with no other income, no savings, no disabilities, no care responsibilities and rent of £800 per month is entitled to £401.55 a week in benefits including state pension, which is £20,881 a year. For comparison, a full time minimum wage worker has an after tax income of £21,364. Unlike a pensioner, a full time minimum wage worker is not entitled to free travel, free prescriptions, a winter fuel payment or senior citizens discounts. £21,000 a year is not a lot of money. But the very poorest pensioners have similar incomes to low-wage workers. Given the greater costs faced by those who are working, it's perhaps not surprising that working age adults are now more likely to live in poverty than pensioners. And at the other end of the scale, one in four pensioners are millionaires and still receive the basic state pension, paid for by current tax payers (including those on minimum wage). No one (definitely not me) is suggesting that the state pension should be reduced for the poorest pensioners. But pension spending now accounts for half of the UK's social security budget and, given the urgent need to cut government spending, we must consider reforms like means-testing and scrapping the triple lock.
Miriam Cates@miriam_cates

“Reform’s commitment to keep the triple lock is the final nail in the coffin for the hope of pension reform from the Right. Britain’s young people are now condemned to pay through the nose for the retirement of the wealthiest generation in history.” ✍️👇 conservativehome.com/2026/04/08/mir…

@HalBeowa @JChimirie66677 @IsabelPat1886 @Annecagm @miriam_cates Hall, you are close but there's more. The government is constantly devaluing the money. I believe since 1965, the pound lost 99% of its value. Of course boomers take out more than they paid in, in NOMINAL terms. If rebased for real inflation, it's a very different picture.

@anna_c_cronin @accountingetc Rumour has it that everybody had to look seriously busy when he entered. But one day he saw a guy looking too relaxed. Maxwell asked him what he earned, then wrote a cheque. "Theres 2 months salary. Find another job." The guy left with the cheque. He was just a visitor.

@accountingetc I’m sure everyone who had any contact with Robert Maxwell got shouted at. My ex husband was employed by him for a staggering week or two until he dared to contradict him on something or other fairly innocuous. At which point RM shouted “You’re fired”. Must have happened to many

@BlobWarriorUK @liamtuffs1 Not only that, but a cost of living crisis and an acute housing shortage (such that indigenous Brits cannot afford to buy, rent or start families) is NOT a time for net immigration of frankly useless people. We have homeless Brits in tents dying outside asylum hotels FFS.

Plus, two tier policing and a two tier legal system, has created enmity, as I suspect is the point of it. Our uniparty wants to provoke civil disorder. Their behaviour proves it.

@LadyK70768 @ACSPARTAN1 Ok, so it doesn't look authentic is the core of it? I am interested and I'm not ruling it out. We were fed loads of set-piece morality tales during lockdowns that looked very staged to me. The Lucy case is so what they would contrive against us, but it might be real too.

@nativistconcern @ember__blue @hollowearthterf Briffault's laws are the core challenge to men. If you love a woman, you don't really understand her. If you truly understand her, you can't then love her. You can love her, or understand her, but not both. Her own 'commitment' is just a calculation updated daily.

No man is his right mind can "love women", who are biological machines encoded for survival and status seeking at all costs. What men love and will dedicate their lives to protecting and serving is the sacrificial, nurturing, Christian femininity which was lost decades ago. Love is a delicate and thoroughly European social construct.

Bear in mind that when men say they love women, often what they mean is that they love sex and having their meals cooked. "I don't hate women, I just hate feminism for brainwashing the stupid pretty things into thinking they want more from life than serving me"
The New Statesman@NewStatesman

"Young women, aged between 18 and 30, are by far the most progressive demographic in the UK. They are also much more pessimistic about the future. They also feel much more negatively towards young men than young men feel about them."

@LisaBritton Also, men will marry down, and marry a poor girl if he likes her. Women don't marry down. They can't go from a rich country, to find a guy richer and taller than her in a poor country. When western men gave up on them, there are NO men left for western women to marry.

@LisaBritton Western women are generally feminist boss bitches who cannot be good wives. The last remaining trad women are in Asia. That said, Asian women are increasingly players too, a lot of men will be disappointed. What makes western women so angry, NOBODY in the world wants feminists.

@LadyK70768 @ACSPARTAN1 I have open mind. What's the evidence that it's a psy-op? I can see the motive. It's to get people to self censor, because you wouldn't want to end up like poor Lucy. Keep your head down and shut up. But is there any actual evidence?

@life_lightofmen @MeghanEMurphy The explosion in divorces is because it's so lucrative for one party. They just pull the trigger to have cash and assets thrown at them, plus child custody. The hidden tragedy, is the fathers who have to live daily life with this pistol pointed at their head, for their kids.

I hate divorce court and I think it ought to be abolished. The system we have now where mothers are presumed always right and the best parent for children to live with and fathers always wrong is just as bad as when the opposite happened in the 1800s. I think divorce proceedings should involve a jury of peers and whoever breaks their contract (unless for abuse, or something like the other person gambling away all their assets—which would require proof) should be more penalized with 90-10 or 80-20 division of assets. Only truly 50-50 fault should get an even split. Divorce court creates perverse incentives because the whole system gets paid for by the person with money, who is usually the man—so women get the children and the houses and men pay for them while getting next to nothing.

Considering the amount of women I know who’ve gone through divorces and come out the other end, I feel 100% affirmed in my choice to not marry. Not-all-women, of course, but most are happier post-divorce and were unhappy-to-miserable in their marriages. I do understand the purpose of marriage—for the kids—but in general it doesn’t seem to make women happy so much as unhappy, stressed, and often kind of traumatized… I realize this is a gauche thing to say, considering the heterodox pro-marriage wave, but I think it’s generally true… Marriage just isn’t often an enjoyable or beneficial arrangement for many women…

@AmyMek It also anecdotally (again) blows the myth that women in oppressive Muslim societies seek to escape that culture. They are proud to be Muslim, regardless whatever they supposedly suffered, and go west simply to recreate it.

🚨PAY ATTENTION OKLAHOMA Meet Maleeha Siddique, longtime Refugee Case Manager at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. She came to the United States as a refugee from Afghanistan more than twenty years ago. Since then, she has worked at Catholic Charities in their refugee resettlement department. She is very proud of her work resettling Afghan refugees in Oklahoma, it gave Maleeha “the opportunity to serve those from her home country and help acclimate them in our society.” Another Afghan Muslim, brought in as a refugee two decades ago, now works inside an officially Catholic organization, using its name, its crucifix, and your tax dollars to resettle wave after wave of her own people. This is the exact same pattern taking place all across the country: Catholic Charities hires the Muslim refugees they import because “they speak the language.” Those hires stay for decades, rise in the ranks, and turn “faith-based” charities into Muslim import pipelines, all while the Catholic branding stays up for cover and funding. Oklahoma joins Utah, North Carolina, Texas, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, and D.C. on the list. This is conquest with a smile, an Afghan flag, and a Catholic logo. Christian organizations are being hollowed out from the inside. American taxpayers are funding their own replacement. Read the full exposé: rairfoundation.com/daniel-greenfi…

🚨 ALERT: TROJAN HORSE IN MORMON UTAH - WE ARE BEING REPLACED! Somali Muslim Aden Batar Runs “Catholic” Refugee Machine Funded by LDS Tithing, Producing DSA Candidate Liban Mohamed A 27-year-old Democratic Socialist, the son of Somali immigrants who came to America, and a proud Muslim, just announced his run for Congress in what was supposed to be one of America’s reddest districts. His name is Liban Mohamed, and he is the political face of Utah’s rapidly expanding Somali Bantu Muslim community. ⚠️That community did not grow by accident. Meet Aden Batar, Somali Muslim refugee turned Director of Migration & Refugee Services at Catholic Community Services of Utah. (Say What!?) He was resettled by them in 1994. Now he runs the entire program, alongside his deputy, Khalid Al Hachami (another Muslim), bringing more Muslim refugees into Utah under a Catholic label. But listen to Batar himself in a recent talk: “As a Muslim and also working for [the Catholic] organization… every single bed that they sleep with comes from the LDS Church… As a Muslim when 9/11 happened… the first person that reached to us at our mosque was the leadership from the LDS Church… ‘We are here with you… if one religion is attacked, all religions [are] attacked.’ It gives me a lot of comfort to live in this community… I’ve never felt that I’m in the minority here.” He openly admits: He’s a Muslim running a “Catholic” refugee machine. Every bed for the hundreds of refugees they import comes from the LDS (Mormon) Church. Notice the narrative: Right after 9/11, while America was still reeling from radical Islamic terror, Batar portrays Muslims as the primary victims in need of Christian support and protection. Meanwhile, the very system he now oversees continues bringing in more refugees from the same regions. This is the Red-Green Axis in action: Radical leftists (the “Red”) and Islamic movements (the “Green”) are working in alignment, leveraging Christian compassion, taxpayer dollars, and interfaith goodwill. 🔥Meanwhile, Batar also leads the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake 🔥 When an American/Israeli flag appeared at a local mosque last year, he issued a statement, in his official capacity at Catholic Community Services, calling it a “hate crime.” This is the pipeline: Christian compassion and taxpayer dollars → resettlement infrastructure → administered by Muslim leadership → expanding communities → producing the next generation of political candidates like Liban Mohamed. Utah’s well-known culture of generosity is playing a central role in this transformation. This is demographic and political shift driven through resettlement systems. 🚨 BREAKING TERROR ALERT: LONDON ON EDGE — COUNTER-TERROR POLICE DEPLOYED An area of central London is now under heavy police control. Kensington Gardens — locked down. Armed response units on scene. Officers in protective gear. And this is why: A video has emerged overnight… claiming the Israeli Embassy was targeted with drones carrying “dangerous substances.” Authorities say no attack has taken place. But they are now urgently investigating whether the threat is real — and whether it is linked to suspicious items found nearby. Let’s be clear. You don’t deploy counter-terror units, seal off a major London park, and send in protective teams…for nothing. Something triggered this response. And once again, the public is being told: “There is no increased threat.” The same language. The same reassurances. But the pattern is becoming familiar: Rising global tensions. Domestic security incidents. Growing uncertainty in major cities. London is not isolated. It is part of a wider picture — where geopolitical conflict is beginning to bleed into everyday life. Stay alert. Stay aware. Because events are accelerating.

@JimFergusonUK By the way, putting aside that it's likely just theatre, it's the Israelis themselves who established the principle of bombing Iranian embassies as they saw fit. If their own embassies were now hit, they are STILL themselves the main suspects. The eternal victims.
