Everywhere we go in Portugal we run into other Canadians who, just like us, were in the habit of long vacations from winter in the US. We heard the Florida news last year when Governor DeSantis said clearly that they didn’t need Canadians. Careful what you ask for.

We had a meal recently in Switzerland- here is a pic. In addition to this, I had two drinks and the wife one glass of wine. It came to $175.00 CAD. Live talked to others - this is not considered excessive for there. Of course, our dollar is worthless on the world stage. Even in other restaurants, a meal was not cheap.

One operator says he’s losing most of his kitchen team by year-end. But it raises a broader question: Do we simply have too many restaurants, or are they not paying enough to attract local talent?
