Catholics do NOT worship Mary, statues, saints, relics, or angels.
The Church has always distinguished:
Latria = worship due to God alone
Dulia = honor given to saints
Hyperdulia = special honor to Mary because she is the Mother of God
This distinction is ancient Christianity and NOT “Roman invention.”

@Tawadros15 Having some priests in my family, and thus having tons of priests at family gatherings throughout my life, they are people too and like to have fun. I think it is good to remind people of that, as some people put priests on too lofty of pedestals.

People constantly whining about low birth rates and marriage stats are forgetting that we live 8 years longer on average than we did in 1975 and our medicine is so advanced that people in their 40s have more kids than younger women. People are taking their time, enjoying their lives, and building careers. Stop being dramatic. Americans married by age 40 in 2025: Women 77.0% Men 72.0% My friend is a birth doula in New York, and all her clients are women in their 40s. They are all well and good to bear children.

@ChristopherHale I’m a Catholic with multiple autoimmune dxs. She may be healed. New serenity in her life may allow her to have less stress and go into remission. Maybe she is embracing her cross more readily with God’s help so her symptoms seem lessened. God is good and His power infinite.

One reason many Catholics no longer go to confession frequently is that the sacrament subtly drifted from “confession and absolution” toward “spiritual counseling.”
Most Catholics are willing to accuse themselves of sins briefly and regularly. Fewer are willing to enter into an extended personal conversation every few weeks.
The traditional confessional, the screen, brevity, clarity, and sacramental reserve all lowered the barrier to grace. The sacrament felt objective, medicinal, and accessible rather than emotionally burdensome.
Confession is not primarily therapy or spiritual direction. It is sacramental mercy.
