@JohnDugganSport Be interesting to see how long the game would actually have been over before the hooter in the old rules. Games run on far longer when the clock get stopped and extra time would never have been as long. How many matches would have continued with a side line ball to be taken?

Do we need the hooter in Gaelic Football? What was wrong with the old way?

@Murfy888 @CahairOKane1 Well would be pretty hard saying the rules haven't stopped changing in the last few years clearly not too many other players or management team members know then either. How many times is a match restarted when blown regardless of what was happening at the final whistle?

@CahairOKane1 Only sport in the world that the referees don’t know the rules in. Embarrassing, good job it was behind a paywall today saved the embarrassment of Americans & English people viewing absolutely rinsing the game to shreds about it been a farce. That hooter needs to be abolished.

The full four absolutely chaotic minutes at the end of normal time. Lesson: Never listen to anyone that tells you there’s no point arguing with a ref because they’ve never seen one change their mind

@NiallReidy1 Also what baffles me is that the Armagh v Down match is the only one free to air this weekend it is airing not only on BBC but RTE also two northern teams and no other match with Southern teams shown on RTE. I'd like to see the process they use to pick what matches get shownfree

Putting these premium GAA games behind a paywall is a terrible indicment of our non profit organization. The amount of the general public and kids that didnt see Monaghan v Derry today is sad. It was the kind of game that would stay with viewers forever. #gaa #gaaplus #ulster

@melrobe08536915 Fair play to some in Donegal a few years back some of their clubs set a table up outside th ground and would take cash for tickets and go through the process of ordering them for people who didn’t know how to A fucking shame that for non all ticket matches one gate can’t be cash

This and the refusal to take cash off older members to gain entry to games is a black mark against the organisation. An internet service most older GAA members don’t know how to use and tickets having to be bought for games online needs looked at
Eamon Mc Gee@EamonMcGee

Might have missed the explanation and could be a good enough reason but can anyone out there explain the logic from a GAA perspective by keeping two big football games behind a paywall today?

@GerOnSport @melrobe08536915 Do you realise not every person over a certain age has a smart phone some have a basic phone which they probably hardly use as they haven't become addicted to them like the rest of us. The older generation put in the work to get the GAAto where it is a bit of respect to them.

I thought Derry v Monaghan was on BBC NI. This is ridiculous. Ulster semi final and not being shown on free to air tv🙁

@ballsdotie Derry threw it away, rules are very dodgy when hooter goes the game should end no mater what. If ball had been wide and goalie went to kick it out wouldn't be allowed. Also how did they come up with you can score a 2 pointer from a side line but not a 45 same sort of thing?

Should McCarron's two pointer have stood? Right foot was on the sideline.

@CahairOKane1 It's not a free kick it's a sideline no foul is committed. Makes no sense and 2 pointers for sidelines and frees but not 45s. A sideline and 45 the same sort of thing. I don't know how they have come up with all the new rules.

Derry protested strongly that the sideline ball is only worth one. I'm doing a trawl of rules to be sure, but I think it is worth two.

I wonder are Derry ever going to win a game of football ever again. This has to be some sort of record for a team to have won back to back ulsters and now hasn’t won a game of football in league or championship in regulation time since 2024.

@shanefox14 @KildareFan2025 Won playing the better football end of for years Derry has played brilliant football and lost tight matches because they were too nice as commented by many now they stand up for themselves it's the dark arts. Kildare innocent bystanders I suppose?

Mad the way an umpire who called a point inside the post at his side can change his mind and decide it wasn't over 30 seconds later. Based on who else's opinion? Everyone else was in a poorer position. That was over his head.
