I'm old enough to remember being repeatedly told that millions of our most vulnerable desperately needed a Labour government and I was a privileged middle class Trot for not leaping on board this tremendous remedy train.

@NicholasTyrone When all a 40h week buys you is paid rent and bills, you've nothing to spend in local businesses which then fold and make their staff unemployed.

When you make the minimum wage too high, you make it less likely that companies will create jobs. When you give employees day one rights, taking on employees becomes an extremely high risk proposition for employers. We should be making it easier to create jobs, not harder.

@TrisOsborneMP A 4% increase would be good if my CT increase wasn't 5%, my water doubled and my rent gone up 35%.

@peterkyle A 4% increase in minimum wage with a 5% increase in council tax, a doubling of my water rates and a 35% increase in rent, is the opposite of money in my pocket.

Morning from Westminster! From today, the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage are rising. We’re cutting energy bills by an average of £117 a year. And we’re freezing prescription prices. We’re putting more money in your pocket.

@jackmrankin Doesn't mention Jews though does it? It talks of enemy soldiers. It's you Jack, conflating all Jews with Israeli soldiers... see IHRA definition of antisemitism. Have you seen the footage of Knesset's Son Har-Melech encouraging her 2y old child to indiscriminately kill Arabs?

Despite assurances that the Palestinian Authority would reform its education system, 14-year-olds in the West Bank are still learning Arabic language in the context of killing Jews. Evidence in 🧵

Daniel Greenfield - "Hang Together or Separately"
The truth about Israel's 'Death Penalty for Terrorists Bill' The bill was sponsored by MK Limor Son Har-Melech who was 7 months pregnant when she was attacked by Islamic terrorists. The car rolled over killing her husband, Shalom, an ambulance driver, Seriously injured, the 24-year-old mother survived. So did her newborn daughter. Limor, still carrying the scars of the attack on her face, married again, had children and ran for office. The terrorist who killed her husband was freed in the Hamas deal No one is talking about this. Instead the media and leftist accounts are running with clips of Ben Gvir clowning for the cameras rather than telling the courageous story of the woman behind the bill.

@MatthewStadlen @MichaelRosenYes You've merely been asked to give an example of your vague assertion that 'Jews are excluded from the movement' and instead of just doing that, you've shat. Profoundly unpleasant? You insulted Mr. Rosen, not the other way around. Quit gaslighting and apologise.

Oh dear. Matthew talked of 'idiots' (who?) 'excluding' (where? when? how?) Jews from the 'movement' (which movement? whose movement?) and he told me that I was 'too lazy' and 'dissembling'. All I asked for was an example, so that we could discuss it.
Matthew Stadlen@MatthewStadlen

I’m going to leave you to your games, Michael. It’s a shame that, as a former Children’s Laureate, you play such games. The examples are there on this thread if you can be bothered to do some basic research, rather than asking me to do it for you. Have a good day and I’m sorry that you’ve proved the point of my original tweet.

@YvetteCooperMP I'm afraid this won't do. This is not the same as the death penalty elsewhere. It applies only to one ethnicity. Neither is merely saying you oppose it good enough. Sanction Israel.

@Cpass12David My husband knew Starmer. He said he was the best CPS director ever. Hard working and innovative. À third of his work was pro bono helping tortured prisoners via Amnesty International.

The Times: “Writing in this newspaper in 2024 (promising a huge increase in house building) Sir Keir Starmer laid down the gauntlet. He observed that the public had grown sceptical of politicians’ promises after years of inaction, and said: “I expect the public to hold us accountable to these milestones.” He may (will in my opinion) live to regret those words. Experienced politicians don’t make rash promises.

@PreetKGillMP Labour deliberately sabotaged it's own electoral chances and the opportunity of meaningful change to systemic inequality. They preferred Bodger's Tories to a dose of democratic socialism. Shut up please.

Zack Polanski talking nonsense. Labour has delivered the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation through the Employment Rights Act, strengthening protections, improving pay & backing working people. That’s not “turning our backs” on the working class that’s delivery
Zack Polanski@ZackPolanski

Labour voters are now those who are financially best off. This is because Labour have turned their backs on the working class to placate the wealthy. The unions have noticed and are liking what they see in a Green Party committed to workers right and affordability.

@Jc62Matildamog They murdered James Miller in 2003 and (ofc) tried to blame it on Palestinians. The UK gov weren't raging all over the airwaves, in fact, they were accused by James's family of being obstructive to their attempts at justice. wsws.org/en/articles/20…

I’m now at the point where I think the outrage from our government over some burnt out ambulances, would be way above the outrage if Israel killed a British journalist.

Let me tell you about Jessie Ware. She’s a British Jewish artist. She built part of her brand on being Jewish. And for a moment after October 7th — when Jews were being massacred, taken hostage, burned alive in the worst attack on our people since the Holocaust— she spoke up. She acknowledged that her people were being slaughtered. But then the blowback came, and she went quiet. In that moment, she made a choice. A very calculated choice. Keep the Jewish aesthetic. Lose the Jewish spine. Use the identity when it’s cool, when it adds a layer to an interview, when it helps you access celebrities in America, when it makes you interesting at a dinner party in Shoreditch, but the moment it requires actual courage, the moment standing with your people costs you a booking or a follower or a room full of people who find Zionists acceptable targets? Drop it. Fast. I know this personally. We were supposed to meet for coffee a few years ago in Dalston, East London. I used to love that neighborhood so much, but I had to leave when the antisemitism became too bad. She and I spoke. And then one day, I noticed she’d unfollowed me. No message. No “I disagree with something you said.” Just gone. That’s who she is. And now she’s performing at “House Against Hate.” I want you to sit with that name for a second. House. Against. Hate. I almost laughed when I saw it. Almost. An event headlined alongside some of the most anti-Israel, antisemitic voices operating in London right now. Hatred, it turns out, is absolutely welcome as long as it’s directed at Jews who refuse to publicly disown the majority of our own community. You can be Jewish, but you have to be the right kind. The kind that performs self-flagellation for an audience. The kind that calls Zionism — the belief that Jews deserve a homeland— a hate movement. Do that, and the rooms stay full. Don’t, and you’re cancelled. Jessie Ware chose the rooms. I moved out of East London because the neighborhood I loved became somewhere I didn’t feel safe as a Jew. She’s still playing its stages. There’s a word for performing Jewish identity while abandoning Jewish people. I’ll let you find it yourself.
