A fundamental lesson from my posts these last two weeks on modernization, industrial policy, and development is that development economics should be about understanding why South Korea got rich but Bolivia did not. The current field has largely given up on that question. Sharply identified RCTs on small micro programs are a fine way to publish in the AER and get tenure at a fancy university, but a profession that knows everything about microfinance impact evaluations and almost nothing about industrialization has misallocated its own intellectual capital on a pretty heroic scale. Two causes of this, for the top states:
(1) Re-defining stuff like consensual fingering while drunk as rape
(2) Mass importation of millions of actual rapists.
Interestingly, in "lawyer here" mode, I would virtually guarantee (1) is more often severely punished than (2).

@Smirkley The rates show too much variation to be explained by immigration. Sweden's rape rate is elevated by 3x due to non-Swedes committing 70%, but this doesn't explain why Sweden's rate is 60x higher than Poland. Definitions, reporting rate, and other factors matter more.

@san__luc1 @theepicmap I'd like to see evidence that there's 100K Chinese and thousands of Mongols and Russians. Even if that's the case, there's still practically zero racial diversity in North Korea, because Chinese, Mongols, and Japanese are all Northeast Asian.

@TKohoto This data is partly fake. The Brahmin IQ is not 100. They were given a non-international IQ test where their IQ was arbitrarily set to 100 for the sake of comparison to other castes. Their IQ is absolutely not 100 compared to Western norms.

I wonder if, in the future, after the libtard era ends and ideas like equality fade away and IQ become a serious measurement of national success. In places like India and Africa, could we see the rise of ‘eugenics countries’, states formed by higher-IQ groups who secede from their broader populations and build societies around strict selection and exclusion?

@Smirkley Also, the point of your chart is that despite numbering 25k, they do more crime than aggregated nationalities of 4-6m. The population sizes should be clearly shown. Otherwise some could wrongly argue "yeah ofc they do more crime than many nationalities that have insignificant Ns"

@Smirkley Interesting way of illustrating the data. Just one tip: instead of "nations" it would be better to use "nationalities". For example,
"steal more than 171 nationalities combined", or "Algerians vs 50 nationalities".

I actually undersold it. In Germany, Algerians pickpocket more than the nationals from 171 Countries Combined.

@NineSignal13193 Firstly, I already know that the differences persist after controlling for age, I'm simply wondering what the differences look like. Secondly, it can matter. By your logic, country X shouldn't import young and economically net positive Norwegians because young age = high crime.
