Today, I am announcing the formation of a Senate Select Committee on Redistricting and Reapportionment following the Supreme Court’s ruling in Louisiana v. Callais and the Governor’s decision to rescind the upcoming special session on Supreme Court redistricting. This committee’s work will begin immediately in preparation for the 2027 legislative session or sooner should the Governor call us back in session. I have full confidence that this committee, led by Senator Kirby, will meet in the coming months to gather information, review data, and evaluate potential future redistricting of congressional, legislative, and State Supreme Court districts in light of the Callais decision.
