There is an adage: Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time. For the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case. But, America, if it is: Let us fill the sky with the light of a billion brilliant stars.

As we start to hear the finger pointing punditry, let’s not be confused. The deep roots of racism, sexism and xenophobia is what happened here. America has always been an idea and white supremacy remains the original sin and the enemy of our ideals. Capitulation isn’t an option!

I did not expect how many people would text me pictures of their ballots with filled out ovals next to my name and @kingforutah, and it is unexpectedly emotional every time. The trust to make good decisions for Utahns is something I will never take for granted.

We will see what happens but I believe it will limit my interactions here in the future.
