I dont like the approach of making decks worse over making other decks better. UNBAN TWIN to buff normal and dark and it will encourage decks that are naturally good into psychic. I do think 1 or both of these cards getting banned doesnt fix the problem.

@enjoifriend I'm not advocating for any bans. I said if I ban were to happen then Xatu is the most effective one.

@DefconTCG I’d argue that you are the one advocating for decreasing the overall power level of psychic by hitting xatu! To me that’s crazy. My goal is to keep as many pokemon around for as long as possible, sometimes that means trimming out older cards that weren’t very future proof

@enjoifriend are free energy cards good? Yes broken? Not so sure. With power levels raising I think the possibility of other decks evening out over time is highly possible. So in the future if these cards raise a real problem re ban them. Smogon does "tests" on banned Pokemon all the time

@enjoifriend if im playing a format for fun 99% of the time I'd prefer to play with more powerful decks. I think we disagree at a fundamental level on how to curate a format. Im not going to change your mind but thats my thoughts on this potential ban. Boosting the power level of decks >

@DefconTCG Not by as much, valley causes insane tempo shifts that no other deck can really match. Without it, psychic doesn't have those super explosive turns

@DefconTCG As someone who is pretty new to Pokemon TCG and coming from Magic, is there really a card named “twin” that people want unbanned? “UNBAN TWIN” was a huge meme in the MtG community for years because people really wanted the card Splinter Twin unbanned.

@morsemakes If a ban happened I feel this is the most effective at solving the problem. I dont think it should but it isn't up to me.

@DefconTCG If you're against making decks worse, why suggest a card that would hurt the deck more than the suggested ban?

Psychic is weakest in the early game and Xatu is the best card to set up early game attackers and build advantage. Removing this makes Psychic significantly slower. I think it would discourage Natu use without this being a usable card. I think Natu being inaccessible

I think the most impactful card to ban for Psychic GLC would BY FAR be Xatu. Xatu does something unique that no other type has. A single card that -accelerates energy -draws cards this addition to literally any type aside from fairy would make the deck tier 1.
