@DegrootTy That’s impressive! What’s also impressive the amount of work put in to make that happen. Nurse sows work great, but that’s a high management prospect. What kind of farrowing rate did you have on that group? My experience was always BA and FR tracked together. Challenging!!

Wondering if any #realpigfarming producers have a Sow barn with freedom stalls 5+ years in. Wondering how they stand up, and maintenance with the moving parts etc...

@blonglet Perth County, Ontario, Canada. Farm sold last week to a neighbour farmer via live auction. $50,000 Can a workable acre. 91 workable, 98 total. $4,550,000. At todays interest rates, that is between $350,000 and $400,000 a year for 25 years.

Ag land in cass county is so inflated. 45 bushel beans gross about $550/acre 5% return on $9000 land is $450 The numbers don’t work. Are land investors still trying to get 5%

@AdamJPfeffer 50-75lbs straight oats, uncleaned, spinner spreader or airflow and work in with ripper, disk, cultivator or whatever you prefer. Spray them off in the fall before they head or you will have a lumpy wet mat in the sping to deal with

Alright you cover crop junkies, if a guy were putting down some oats after wheat what would you pair with it to go to corn next year? Plan will be to terminate late fall. #agtwitter

There is some pretty nice tillage tools out there today but for corn on corn you cant beat a moldboard and cultivator. #moldboardmafia

@AlexKnight936 @shaundilliott Chopping heads leave a matt of residue and it takes quite a bit longer for the ground to warm up and dry out in the spring

@shaundilliott I like the idea of the stompers, but haven't invested in any until i see how the chopping head leaves the ground for no-till beans on the clay next spring. If it works, stompers will be the next step.

This will give the neighbors something to talk about since we aren't the last ones to finish harvest this year. Poor man's stalk stomper. Just a small experiment.
