Humm... Before I respond, I want to make clear I am not diminishing what Jesus did on the cross, by His blood we are cleansed. With that said, when watching the theatrics I can't help but think of Matthew 26:39 Christ asking God to take the cup from Him, and then I reflect on the Earth going dark, Earth quakes shaking the ground after Christ' death, the Temple falling. Not a happy scene for humanity if you ask me. Paul Washer said it made God happy to have our sins put on Christ for Him to be tortured to death. I beg to differ. God wasn't happy the nation of Israel rejected Christ, God wasn't happy with the evil in the peoples hearts wanting the torture and death of Christ. Have you forgot, has Paul Washer forgot Christ precious words in LUKE 23:34 "And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And parting his garments among them, they cast lots." If God was happy, Christ wouldnt have asked for grace for the people begging to crucify Him. When Christ took His last breath God turned His back on the world, causing darkness within the Earth that isn't God being happy. Christ crucifixion is the saddest death in history but yet the most important. Just because God paved a way for sinners to be redeemed doesn't mean He is happy with mankind. It means He is a gracious God that will save His creation when His creation doesn't deserve saving.
