@jordan_elsbury Rory, the gas tax is most likely pledged for bond/debt payments—you can’t cut that unless you replace it with other tax revenue and the bondholders agree.

That's not how fuel pricing works lol. Y'all roll that back and show me the 6 cent price drop the day after 😂 You can make that difference with a garbage fee or property tax cut tomorrow though!!!!! And it doesn't take anyone else but Council
Rory Diamond@RoryDiamond

If the Jax City Council and @JTAFLA agreed, we could roll back the Local Option Gas Tax TODAY. Minimum 6 cents per gallon back into your pocket TODAY.

Last week, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks. I am grateful to have an outstanding team of doctors who detected the cancer early and are guiding my care, and I am encouraged by a very good prognosis. I am also deeply thankful for the support and encouragement of President Trump as I undergo treatment and continue serving in my role as White House Chief of Staff.

One of the reasons I ran for mayor was to finally invest in the neighborhoods that had been left behind for decades. The passing of Ordinance 2025-0900 by City Council delivered on the promise by establishing a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) Board for the Eastside neighborhood. This new CBA Board will review and approve millions of dollars in funding to support workforce and economic development, affordable housing, and homelessness initiatives that help Eastside residents prosper and make sure their neighborhood reaches its promise. I want to thank the City Council for their partnership and leadership in advancing our shared priorities. jacksonville.gov/welcome/news/e…

Mike Weinstein dug up this pic when I joined @MayorDeegan’s staff. That’s him, @DelaneyJohnA and me in the inaugural year of stadium they helped build. I framed it as a reminder of the great things this city and its people can do. Happy New Year, Jax, it’s an honor to serve you!

@BaselineHuman01 @forgotten_south He actually burned few houses down. He went after crops and factories and told his men to spare houses….unless they had attacked his army.

🪦 General Robert E. Lee visits the grave of his daughter, Annie. I came across this old photograph of Engleside Plantation in North Carolina, and the longer you look, the more details begin to emerge. The windows are thrown open, making me wonder if this was taken in the spring or summertime, back when open air was the only relief from the Southern heat. And if you look even closer… you’ll spot people gathered everywhere- even up on the balcony. Curious to learn more about this place, I stumbled onto a remarkable story connected to the place. During the Civil War, Annie Lee Carter died of typhoid fever in Warrenton at just 23 years old. Her father was devastated but unable to attend her funeral — he was leading the Army of Northern Virginia at the time. Her father, as it turns out, was Robert E. Lee. Legend says that at the close of the war, Lee traveled from Richmond to Warrenton to visit Annie’s grave, and during that visit, he stayed in an upstairs bedroom right here at Engleside Plantation. Annie was his second daughter. She rested in North Carolina until 1994, when her remains were moved to the family plot in Virginia. Engleside itself was the home of John White and was built around 1850 by renowned Southern architect Jacob Holt, whose work still dots the landscape of North Carolina and Virginia today. A single photograph… and so much history layered behind it.

Struck me last night as I watched this scene again that we have all had or will have a point in which we feel this way, when we we’ve reached the end of our rope & need a hand, need to be shown the way. If you haven’t yet, you will. Fear not. He’s there.

I know climate doomers love to fantasize about losing Miami to sea level rise, but I’ll predict that the population of Miami is greater in 2040 than it is today.

@NateMonroeTU Federal preemption, not the City’s fault. Enforcement of the federal rules is a different matter.

All these years in Jax and it will never cease to amaze me that we allow trains to come to complete stops for extended periods of time — during commuting hours — across multiple intersections, cutting off access to a major hospital.

New @TheJaxTrib | A federal appeals panel overturned a decision from U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon (yes, that Aileen Cannon) and resurrected an investor lawsuit accusing FPL of securities fraud, potentially re-opening old wounds from a sprawling series of controversies.
