There is an intersection between how much someone finds another person attractive and how much they will put up with. There are very attractive women who I wouldn't be able to put up with for more than a night, but also women too ugly for me to consider even if I get along with them perfectly. He was probably attractive to her but not enough to offset personality conflicts, interests, or values.
