@InsiderGeo Definitely! It just frustrates me that it's 2026 and we still can't seem to get our act together. As you say in the thread, we could have made certain choices in 2022 and we'd now be in a much better position, but such choices are just not always made when they should be.

Well, in 2022 we didn’t have the same U.S. administration we have now. Things are starting to move, but slowly. The problem is due to a number of factors. Also, keep in mind that back in 2022 we didn’t have very much to begin with, and we’ve since provided a lot to Ukraine. Now we need to keep supporting them while also producing a surplus for ourselves it’s a bit of a complicated situation.😄

BREAKING: French President Emmanuel Macron and Danish PM Mette Frederiksen stress the urgent need for a strong, independent Europe, fully capable of defending itself without relying on the U.S. Speaking to DR, Macron highlighted that when the U.S. threatened Denmark over Greenland, France immediately offered troops to protect the territory: "You cannot threaten an ally and a European partner. And yes, we are ready to commit because it is Europe. The Greenland crisis revealed a harsh reality: Europe cannot rely on the U.S. for its own security. Macron stressed that the ongoing war in Iran has already drained U.S. missile stockpiles, limiting America’s ability to fully support its allies in Europe and Ukraine. "Too many countries are dependent on U.S. capabilities and presence" he warned. Europe must build stronger armies, a resilient industrial and innovative base, and the ability to produce advanced defense capabilities on its own soil." Frederiksen echoed Macron, saying that while Denmark remains transatlantic at heart, the world has changed: “The answer is Europe.” The Greenland moment, she added, showed that a united and independent Europe is essential politically, militarily, and diplomatically. The leaders also stressed energy and technological independence. Europe must reduce reliance on foreign oil and gas, control its tech infrastructure, and protect its democracies from external interference. Macron emphasized the importance of safeguarding young people online as part of this independence. Greenland was only the beginning. Between conflicts in Ukraine and Iran, dwindling U.S. support, and rising global pressures, Macron and Frederiksen argue that Europe must take its security and future into its own hands. The message is clear: Europe must be ready to act autonomously, defend its people, and safeguard its values without relying on anyone else. They cited the Greenland crisis in January as a pivotal wake-up call for European unity.

@InsiderGeo I understand and I agree with everything in that thread, but the state of our military hasn't meaningfully changed since 2022. We wouldn't be able to stand up to the US, but chose to convey strength anyway. Why didn't we in 2022? An optimist might say it's a sign of progress...?

There is a lot of discussion surrounding the supposed F-35 video today picking up the same level of brightness from the airframe as the exhaust. Wanted to compare with some old attempted shootdown video screenshots from the Houthis using Iranian-provided equipment.

@InsiderGeo Thats perfectly acceptable in Japan, but that looks like the white house. American culture doesn't restrict speech. We say how we feel rather than beating around the bush. Shes an adult, and holds very high office in a very powerful country, I think she can handle some words.

People often don’t realize that you can’t talk to Asians the same way you talk to Europeans or Westerners. There’s a cultural expectation that historical context, respect, and subtlety are treated differently what might seem casual or humorous in the West is deeply offensive in Japan, In Japan, context, respect, and subtlety guide almost every interaction. Unlike in many Western countries, where directness is valued, Japanese communication often relies on reading between the lines.

Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi's reaction as Trump says "Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Habour?" Undoubtedly the worst American diplomatic gaffe in post-war US-Japan history.

@srknates @InsiderGeo Smart, right? Why fight alone when you can fight together. That's an idea Trump is figuring out in real time. After telling everyone to go fck themselves and that America didn't need them, he's now begging them to come help him out in Hormuz. Don't worry, you'll learn in time

They are so spineless that if they went to war with America, they wouldn't hesitate to fall into the lap of Russia or China. They know they have no chance in a fight with America. Throughout history, what they've done is unite against a single state: against Russia, against the Turks, and now against America. They never have the courage to face it alone.
